Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

I am tired of this H1b racist sh--.

You know what. I really now do hope Trump becomes the president and deports/cancels all H1b. Send all immigrants back home. It is only then you would understand the value immigrants bring here in the US. What were they thinking right? America, the land of the free and full of opportunities. How unlike all your forefathers, right?

Everyone has their struggle, their fight, their string of bad luck. You only see, that if you got laid-off and an h1b person did not, that means he has no other struggle, right? Do you know the other side of the story. What it took for that person to even get an H1b and still be treated like sh-- because of being an outsider? NO, IT DOES NOT and NO, YOU DONT. And neither does the person on h1b know about your struggles. Its very easy to resolve to hate and blame but that's not going to do you or them any good.

And what the hell is up with arguments of immigrants stealing jobs. Lets start with one basic point. Education. If all immigrants go back or stop coming to the US for graduate degrees, Masters degree classes in US universities will be empty as most of the students are immigrants. They spend thousands of dollars, take loans, mortgage their houses and come to learn and work just like anybody else. And I understand that Americans go through a lot of struggle too with the same kind of things. So what is with the stealing? I dont understand that a nation formed on the hardwork laid down by your forefathers who were immigrants can talk sh-- about immigrants. Stop complaining and focus on solutions for yourself. Be happy that you are alive. I dont see you talking sh-- about the person who just discovered that he has cancer. I dont see discrimination there. Be grateful and trust your capabilities.

While all the focus is on H1b visa, L1 is equally dangerous, yet no one talks about it

L1 probably brings more people to the US than H1 visa. No need for minimum salary and lot more flexible terms. Check here,

If foreign students stop coming to the US, it's good for Americans. If the classes are empty then the price of education will go down and even government should consider providing subsidies for education to America instead of educating foreigners and then giving them jobs here.

@1pup - So the native Indians should throw the Whites out? This is a difficult time for everyone, and being racist definitely won't help. Everyone is losing jobs. Everyone's families are affected.

Non profits are exempt from H1-B visa caps. Which explains why the Clinton foundation uses a lot of them for things such as accounting and other non technical skills which are not in short supply.

Trump supporters, could you please explain yourselves?

I think it's the H1B's that should be looking forward to a Trump presidency. Trump is pro-business, so they will never have job insecurity (because of their education level). And American education system will stay as un-affordable to poorer Americans as it is now (if not more), so there will be no threat of a sudden inrush of qualified native workers to neither the H1Bs nor their children who will follow their examples and get a proper education (that their parents surely can afford).

The only way to stop the influx of H1Bs is to make American colleges affordable and debt-free to the masses. And that sounds more like Bernie! I don't understand your point, dear fellow Americans!

So let's see. If you are not H1B and got laid off... Post your education. The odds it is not a PhD or MS in engineering. Also did you get promoted within the last two years? Odds you didn't or even the opposite. So before you complain about how much H1B are responsible for you losing your job think that maybe you got laid off because of your own actions

H-1B = "Corporate Plantation"... They may think they are coming to the US because they are the big next hot item but the reality is that they are being used like everyone else has been used by the corporation until now.. The sad part of that once they are done with the H-1B's, they have a looong way to go back home...

I dont blame the H-1B's for taking the jobs but that does not mean that I support them as I am an American and my country and my people comes first no matter what..

nfl, #4 is a good point. I guess we should look on the bright side. I don't know any Indian or Chinese gangbangers. Indians and Chinese in US are known for being hardworking, which is a good example for us all.

"India, land of mystery, is the 7th largest land mass and 2nd most populated nation in the world. It is rich in resources and manpower, yet its people are among the poorest and most suffering on earth.

Millions of Indians suffer from malnutrition, disease, and poverty. The people are apathetic because their religion has taught them to be detached observers, disregarding the agonizing lifestyle which imprisons them.

V.S. Naipaul, himself an Indian, describes India as a wounded civilization, paralyzed by her religious beliefs."

Few quick points:

  1. All anti H1B arguments made here are based on a presumption that no H1B gets laid off, which in not the fact at all. I only know two people that got ISP, and both were on H1B and will likely have to leave USA if they dont find another job that sponsors H1B within 30 days.

  2. Not all foreign workers are from India.

  3. Every third person in this world is either Indian or Chinese.

  4. If you look at crime numbers released from FBI, people of Indian origin have a very best record.

That being said, I feel sorry for the people who lost job, but at the same time they may end up with something better and I hearty wish so. Also, it seems that if you survived this time, it is no guarantee that you will survive in future. (irrespective of race, gender, nationality, sexual orientation etc). Lets pray for peace, harmony and prosperity of all.

Superior? All that hate does not let you make any sense. Nobody is saying one is superior to the other. Great things happen in America because of the collective intelligence from all over the world, that also includes extraordinary Americans who are super hardworking and intelligent, you dumb ass And do you think 90 million jobs are in IT? Are you f---ing kidding me? Do you think all unemployed people should work in IT. Geez.

Op, h1b is not a race. If someone says screw h1b, that doesn't make him or she a racist. Seesh, what's next, you're racist if you order white rice at chipotle? Yet the people here started bitc11111g about whites, because somehow this is not racist at all in their minds... Give me a break. And no, I'm not white and I'm immigrant. Don't twist things in your advantage, try walking in their shoes (90 millions unemployed) and stop considering yourself superior to Americans, it's moronic.

"They come over here and get their degrees from our colleges, then they accuse us of having bad education. That was awesome"

Here is my version @H7AJjTe-oqi :

They came over here and said they want to be friends, then stole all our land and called it their country.

Sound familiar? Yeah. Happened long ago to the natives who lived here.

It is not a question about immigrants. It is a question about a US government program that has left so many American workers and their families at a disadvantage because of their high cost of living in their own country. They are being replaced because of their salary requirements and yet it is absolutely necessary for them to have Intel products in their home.

It's not the Indians or Immigrants, its just that there are TOO MANY of them. From Mexico to India, they drive the wages down for everyone including other immigrants. I am a 2nd generation American myself and I support immigration, but whats happened in the last 10 years or so is not immigration, its an invasion.

In total and by literal definition Intel is a racist company. By that I mean Intel has specific race quotas for specific employee skin colors. If you don't have the right skin color you face a greater risk of ISP/VSP because Intel has to reach it's 2020 goals. But don't take my word for it. Look at Intel's own documents:

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/diversity/diversity-2015-annual-progress-report.html

(click on download pdf, then see the last page (pg 58) which shows how many more "wrong skin colors" need to be fired in order to get "right skin color" folks in...

I was bitter at first....about the H1B. Then I looked at my stock portfolio and realized that all that hard work the immigrant is doing is helping my stocks go up, then I realize I don't have to work. The bitterness just melts away....

If we all step back and think for a moment, we'll realize that we all have the same basic desires: food and home. People with skills are hired from less developed or developing economies by feudal lords. This feudal scam is not new. It is done routinely in what once used to be affluent Middle Eastern (Gulf) countries. The same thing is now happening here in the (USA) hi-tech sector on a massive scale.

Why? Because feudal lords are helped by their governments (US State Department) to off-shore and in-shore jobs.

Why? Because humans from under-developed and developing countries are cheap and disposable.

So then, what about the people of the country where feudal lords operate? They are considered to be disposable consumers too! 1% in the home and foreign countries screwing over the 99% across the world.

So what is Trump going to do about all of this?

In the long run he'll do what he deems necessary for feudal lords, like himself, not to survive, but to thrive.

In short, any wining candidate who is either ambiguous about or pro business and/or military, will be slave to the 1% feudal lords. Unless the candidate is overtly and covertly against the current business and military trend, we are all screwed, natives and foreigners!

If no immigrants came to the US, people like Sergey Brin, Satya Nadella, and Sundar Pichai would be starting companies in India, Russia, or China to compete with Google and Microsoft. There would be fewer jobs in the US than there are today. Those that are unemployed in the US today will still be unemployed. It's unfortunate that not everyone sees that. Then again, you'll never have everyone agree on the same thing else we wouldn't have so many politicians each making different policy proposals. My advise to those that believe H1B's are the problem is that you can continue to believe that, but at the same time improve your skill set. Regardless of whether H1B's exist or not, the more skills you have, the more money you'll make. It's simple economics.

odd how the tables have turned as the KKK is solidly behind Trump and the repugs. Trump can't win. There are not enough bitter, angry white people in the nation to propel him to the White House

When I was a student working and going to college, it was these immigrant students that always asked for my help, always made me the team leader, and always left me doing most of the work. You have experience, you should do the design. My grand mother was sick and I could not write the program. Can you write the report because my English ain't good? I was so obliged to help and they were so grateful. Yet, in the workplace, they won't give me the time of day and when the lay-off became known - they were the first to stab me in the back. Once naive, no longer so.

The racist comments come from a very small group of people..most of them not from Intel..just trying to create animosity. Let's get this straight are you telling me that first we give jobs to all citizens and then look at the min citizens ? You are living in your own world buddy. You really think anyone can do the job that a qualified PhD it Masters grad can do? Yea right.

There are also millions of people out of job in India and China also. They dont have the right qualifications or the intelligent to work at tech companies. If you believe that 100% of the Americans or Indians or people from any other country will have jobs. Sorry you are living in an Ideal world. This aint that. The "FIRST" are the native Americans. Oh wait. What did you do to them? Stop bullshitting dude.

American companies hire overseas 98% for low wages. That's it. ! They offshore IT development for the low wages! that's it. You think those companies believe they are getting quality? A big NO. In fact, most companies when assessing the need to offshore, first discuss the known "low quality" that will come with that decision.

I'm an immigrant myself (not H1B) and grew up in USA, and this country has a lot of anti-intellectualism in schools and in culture. Good at sports? You're awesome. But get an A in math? You're a nerd/loser. It's no wonder why companies are hiring so many overseas; kids in India/China/etc are pushed so much to succeed in school. If you're at the top of the class there, you're the cool one. Screw American culture, you folks can blame yourselves.
