Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Just got walked out.

I have to say the process was positive and professional. The package is awesome. I was treated with respect and appreciate that.

Best part? I was leaving Intel anyway this month, but now I get a sweet parting gift.

Farewell Intel!

I'm glad to hear that. I'm still there, and it sounds like it's harder for us than it is for the person leaving. Good luck to you! Thanks for posting.

I can answer about the Folsom process (at least my experience). My initial "1:1" with my manager and an HR representative was held in an FM5-2 conference room. After a brief conversation about what was going on, why it occurred, they gave me a packet with package details and next steps and we moved to an FM5-1 room that had a number of cubicles setup (this is probably where the BUM room processing comment is coming from). Here they discussed career building assistance. I believe another room was setup for processing your laptop, but I didn't need anything done, so that was just handed off. They also have a counselor available to speak with, if you choose to. It seemed like I did things a little out of order (they walked me to the counselor first), but perhaps it's dynamic. All in all, everyone was very professional and courteous.

I was fortunate last spring to take the TMG VSP while my sights were set for retirement within the next 6-12 month window. The VSP package bridged to my planned exit, and then some. While not happy during my last years at Intel, I was very happy with the separation package /extended medical that I felt was fair and generous.

Good luck to all that are going through this...

Why are people posting in here that in FM they are being processed through the BUM room as though it's a horrible experience? Perhaps that is false info?

I was walked out early this morning from Folsom and agree with the OP 100%. I'm sure there are some horror stories out there, but for those of you who may still have to go through this, I hope things go as smoothly as they did for me (and the OP). Best of luck, all.

Actually it's always different when they do layoffs. When I got layed off last summer, I was notified June 15, last day was July 15th. I walked out the door on my own, still wearing my badge and went over to the gym and worked out one last time. My badge was good until midnight. And I still have my badge, well somewhere.

escorting laid off employees out the door is standard procedure at any company.
