Thread regarding Comcast Corp. layoffs

Comcast Layoffs 2016

I am not sure if we are cutting jobs this year, but I can tell you that some groups at Comcast never had layoffs - if you compare this to our competition where job cuts are frequent and almost inevitable, we are doing really well. I am not sure if it'll stay like this forever, but I will ride this train as job security is hard to find in 2016.

Nobody has any loyalty any more and companies are treating people like numbers, Comcast is not like that.

I wish the corporate folks could experience exactly what the lower level folks experience in a "restructuring". Severance package was not equal to the buyout offered to the older, longer-termed employees just weeks later. HR person quite threatening in pre-exit interview a month ahead of leaving; told if we did not finish work left to be finished, we would not get a severance package. Impatient, non-empathetic, insensitive. Said nothing would come of out severance checks. All lies we were told. Ineffectual, unprofessional employees "informing " you of your impending termination treat you like dog crap after years of service. Scrape you off their shoes, and continue their crappy work themselves. Mind-blowing how those employees remain employed and as the face of the company and great employees like you get the boot.

Terrible company to work for. No job security. They do not care about the employees. Don't waste your time in thinking you have a career there. Discard you like trash.

Absolutely they don't care how long you worked there, how old you are, how loyal you are. When you are targeted to go, they cut you down, regardless of any other factor.

Per internal information, Comcast laid off multiple Senior Vice Presidents (SVPs), Vice Presidents (VPs), Directors, and Engineers from the technology, network, and product engineering side on Oct 17th, 2016.

I depends on how much outstanding stock they were issued and at what price. This way they don't have to pay it out when it matures, and it all goes back to Comcast. Actually the options are voided. Still, this can equate to a million or more per person. I think you should only lose the options if you quit, not get laid off.

Today a run of layoffs hit our organization. Lots of VPs and Directors. Some of the actual workers as well. Seems they are cleaning house of much of the senior leadership with the recent reorg.
