I know that the down turn wasn't Devon fault, but I still think they could have managed there talent pool better. Because of the down turn my life is now in complete disarray. I haven't been able to find work, I have medical bills and a baby on the way. I have about three more weeks of pay and then unemployment, which is just over $400 a week. We have our house for sale and are looking to move in with my sister. I know that others have been hard hit as well. I was at Devon for about 5 years and would have hoped I could stay. I know that my medical bills caused me to be let go not my performance. This I blame Devon on. It just seem they shouldn't have any information on our medical records. Isn't this against the law? I could see them having meta data, but not our personal cost. I just have to say it and really still don't want to believe it, but Devon isn't a good company. They have no integrity. If you had a baby, surgery or other medical cost you were among the 1000. At this point I need them to do well so I can cash in my stock to make ends meet. After 3 years, pffff I hope they get bought and leave town. The past two months have been depressing. What really also tops it off is that everyone still at Devon won't return any of my emails or phone calls. The people I called friends are so afraid of being flagged as undesirable. Guess what guys if there is another round it won't matter, you're a number. Grow a pair !

Hey it's a tough time and you just have to roll with it. I got let go from Devon Canada. Im an engineer with 10 years experience plus a MBA. Now I'm working two jobs as a construction labourer and landscaper. Work about 65-70 hours a week making 20-25 an hour. Not what i expected in life but have to pay the bills somehow!
we're in a global economic depression.
Maybe some of you haven't had to look for a job in 8 years or more, but it's extremely bad.
Your degree doesn't matter, your qualifications don't matter.
Companies are downsizing and leaving the US. Taxes and bullshit regulations are making it very hard on them, much less to hire and pay someone over $20 an hr.
FYI...there are no jobs in Texas :-(
Just Upset,
If you decide to seek legal council, let every one know which lawyers will take such cases. Yes, your made, but getting even is better. A few lawsuits for wrongful dismissal, workers injuries, and other leaving work related issues have been filed for a few companies. A settlement is always how these things turn out.
Sinking with you! I'm moving to Phoenix in hopes of finding something.
That's correct. It has been confirmed by hr personnel released
Devon used medical cost as a factor for prioritizing whom to release
And when did Devon use medical issues as justification for termination? Not while I worked there! Could you be grasping for straws to come up with a reason for your loss? Oklahoma is an "at will" state. There doesn't have to be a reason. You are angry, which is understandable, and until you get over your anger, you are not going to be able to move on.
So sorry about you hardship. I am experiencing similar woos. I hurt my back and was out on short term disability. I tried physical therapy instead of having surgery, with out success. Now I can't afford to. Now I'm just trying to manage pain, but have to take strong pain killers and that will prevent me from passing a drug test. I've managed for a week, but it has been difficult. I've mostly stayed in bed or reclined. I'm fortunate to have about 6 months of severance. Even though we got to have insurance for two months I couldn't afford the copay for surgery knowing my income was running out. Devon's mess in now a statewide problem. The State and most of the schools are out of money. Maybe we could annex to TEXAS!... They seem to have plenty of jobs in spite of the oil downturn. I'd move but I'm bound to elderly parents and teenage kids. Life kicks us around sometimes.
