Friendships - how to stay connected

The folks you sat near and chatted about life with on a regular basis...now you don't see each other at work (they are gone, you are gone, or both)...how do you feel about those friendships? Do you make efforts to stay connected? Are efforts extended to you?

I have kept in touch with a few. My old team actually met me for dinner. There are still many wonderful people employed and I wish them all the best.

I think it's sad that what the above person said is probably, in reality, true for the majority of those working. I really wish we could develop better relationships at work...but it seems like all the fun has been taken out of work now...no more celebrations, no more appreciations, no more recognitions. It's all work these days. I realize that's just business...but I do miss when there was more camaraderie at work. It sure does make coming to work easier.

I had a lot of "work" friends, but moving forward there will only be one of those people that I will actually stay in touch with. Some of those "work" friends were actually asshats that I was only friendly with because I was forced to work with them. They were no one I would ever waste a minute outside of work on.
