I was hired last month in Intel, working in IT services.
Will I be affected too ? Or am I safe ?

"won't be surprised if this happens again"...? Dude, seriously? This happens every few years. I lived through SET (the last MAJOR head chopping -- about 10-ish percent -- in 2006) and from what I understand there were other major actions like that before my time. In my personal experience, this has happens roughly once a year to some degree.
My message: It will happen again. And again. And again. And the advice of "be proactive in finding ways to move yourself up the corporate ladder and not sit stagnant at intel" is pretty close. You don't have to climb the ladder in the sense of becoming a manager, or a VP, but you do need to develop a skill that is valuable. This will also help you should "the worst" ever happen and you get the axe -- you'll be marketable on the outside.

You'd be safe from a performance based involuntary separation, and if you're not working at Intel as of Monday, 25 April, you won't get a voluntary separation offer. The real risk is if you're starting at a smaller site with no nearby sites to consolidate into (smaller sites are likely to be closed or consolidated), or if you're hired into a program that ends up getting cut (much harder to predict - some may not know until later in the year).
Well, I wouldn't say anything for certain -- but generally companies will do their best not to fire brand new hires.
I'd say odds are you're safe -- but I don't really have any visibility into it so it's just a guess.
That being said - don't think this is going to be the last of these. If you do survive this, I would strongly suggest you be proactive in finding ways to move yourself up the corporate ladder and not sit stagnant at intel -- because I won't be surprised if this happens again.
