Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

They better be careful about WLY/ELD.

There won't be nearly enough left to keep that place running if they keep this up.

Another one who is stuck in the good times

"It was a good five years wasn't it? Full of complaints and crying asslittle bitches then too who couldn't handle the workload

Always something to whine about

No ones ever content

Complaining then and still complaining now"

You are correct. I'm willing to bet all these whiners are new to the industry. This last run without a doubt was the biggest boom in production America has seen historically. They are fools if they thought the work would go on indefinitely. They should have planner better for the future, instead of buying expensive vehicles and homes that they could not afford in the long run. The fact of the matter is the industry must adjust its work force accordingly in order to stay afloat.

NOV is not your daddy and is not obligated to keep all current and recent past employees employed. All these assclowns who want to throw down the race card are the real racist. The majority of the employees facility wide were/are minorities. Where's the thanks to NOV for the years they were employed? If and when the day comes for me I will be thankful for the time I was allowed to work for such an awesome company. Life does not end with NOV's RIF.

The WE NOV people are the ones that should be watched carefully. I mean this with honesty and care. They have an unhealthy attachment; if they are let go, they will not be able to handle it.

It will be considered a life changing traumatic event for them.

WLY will not close and it will not sell. It was the most profitable facility for 5 years in a row. However it will shrink down to only a few hundred employees by August.

Rumor is that it will be sold. Possibly by end of year

I hope you're looking outside O&G

There aren't any jobs out there, and if there are, think about the "competition" out there.

Good luck

We are all looking for jobs. I can't quit until I find a better job and yes even if we're holding on to dear life it's because we haven't gotten a better offer elsewhere

It's over!! The work is coming to end!! Move on!! The people that are still there are holding on for dear life or holding on to a strong prayer. Either way, the work is ending...

Wouldn't be surprised if that place was completely closed by end of this year or early next...maybe sooner
