I'm fairly new to Devon, coming from a pretty small company. Although Devon pays better, I miss my old company and the people. This job is not anything like I was told. After hearing what people got during the layoffs, I was hoping for the same so I could move on. Any advice on how I can get a package? I read telling your manager you want out is not a good idea.

Try to get back to your old job, if outside oilfield. Otherwise, don't say anything to your boss because they will look for other ways to get rid of "unmotivated" workers without a package.
Regarding package. Sure they give you 60 days under WARN, then tell you to go home. However, for every week you are paid under that 60 days, it is subtracted from the length of your severance weeks. So the real benefit of the 60 days is retention of benefits. Not the salary.
This is why I like small companies better, yeah the pay is less but is the extra money really worth the humiliation in the end?
Depends on your manager. In my old group, some asked to be laid off, or mentioned it would be okay if they were 'chosen', and were laid off in the last round.
The package sucks for people under 40 or people that's been there for less than 5 years.
