Thread regarding VMware Inc. layoffs

Inaccurate Information

This place used to be a good spot for true information.

Lately its full of garbage. "My friend was laid off today and 20 more".

Rubbish. People look on this site and what they read worries people, especially with families. Please make sure what you are posting is accurate and proven. If its a rumor, say so.

Absolutely not true. VMware is also at fault, for creating or at least tolerating a toxic environment. They reinforce each other! It takes two to tango.

Micro-Managing is making, Working at VMware feel like I am back in school in India, where (with all respect) the teachers who couldn't find a better job, would preach like losers (http://youtu.be/iTwhtKVjlNE) which they cannot follow.

They just want to go by the book and want to keep only the one who follow them in the class. Rest of them are thrown out. In real life, I feel such people are real losers who can't find any other jobs and suck at the one they have making life miserable for all of those around them. VMWare is not at fault here, it's these losers who are making this place toxic to work.

The current climate at VMware makes us employees fertile ground for rumor-mongering. Between the Dell-EMC deal and our executive exodus, it is not a surprise that people are nervous about their future.

Only a fool believes management is going to give us a heads up and say "you're out of here in x weeks". I used to laugh at crap info like this, but now it scares the hell out of me.

I've also heard vCAir is up for more job losses again. Just a rumour (although from a reliable US source) but wait until end of H1 before calling bullsh*t on it. Godspeed to anyone impacted. Anyone from the vCAir BU care to share their thoughts?

I agree. That's a relief that it's just not me who believe these are all rumors. It was getting harder to concentrate with such news flowing all around here and in office.

Everything you read outside of your company official announcement are considered rumors. (Your management will even tell you so - don't believe in rumors and let's focus at your work). It is up to you who you believing in, your management or this site. From experience, I believed the rumors here. Take your pick.

Second, it rather childish to say after reading 'rumors' from this site, it got you worried. The fact is, what can you do about it? If you are part of the layoff list, then you are part of it. You either look for new role or wait for the severance package. Are you counting on this site to determine what your next move is? If you want to listen to 'true' information, go ask your VP.

Take the information here as a grain of salt, you might worried lesser.
