Worked there 4 years. When layoffs came around, they chose to keep anyone related to project managers or the favorites of the engineers. Was told that I was being laid off because of my performance even though my performance was never questioned in an employee evaluation EVER and we had them barely 3 months before the last layoff. Engineers "hold the hand" of the employees they favor and ensure they get better reviews.

I agree with the other postings that state that Jacobs has a lot of bad management and if you dare to stand up to them, you are eventually let go for "performance". In our Project Controls group, in my opinion, if you were brought in from KBR where the Project Controls managers are from, you are protected even if you are not as good of an employee as another. Jacobs Houston recently let go most of the Project Controls execs so maybe we will see improvement. However, their over paid cronies are still here as PCMs.
This current Jacobs Engineering is NOT what Dr. Joseph Jacobs imagined. He's rolling over in his grave seeing the deterioration of his company. It's discraceful how people are being treated.
Absolute Truth, nepotism and the buddy system trumps experience and quality. Quality in Houston is non existent. Management is all about the bottom line using unqualified individuals as the bulk for billing purposes and the lead being the only expert being completely overloaded with responsibility and unable to keep up resulting in crap being issued for construction. And not all leads are experts only a very few. That's across the board including Engineering and design. Houston layed off the majority of experts.
I was laid off because I stood up to a bully manager. Knew my days were numbered but did have the last laugh. My reaction to the lay off was doing a happy dance and I was employed at a much better company within a week. Couldn't have worked out better for me and the "Manager" - if that's what you could call him looked pretty foolish
Absolutely right....
Location? Which round? Asking as I am in the same boat.
