Expertise lost today is unrecoverable

Six positions eliminated in Moon today. NOT surprisingly, no management was laid off. They cowered in their cubes and offices while the bloodletting commenced though. No sign of any official discussions until the all hands call later that afternoon. Not to be repetitive but the expertise lost today is unrecoverable.

This is the best explanation: "Current upper management is applying food service management paradigms to a group of educated, skilled and self-motivated individuals."

I totally agree with you.

Meetings being conducted in my building as we speak, all management only. Anxious to hear the outcome.

A group of very successful and proven products are now at risk for having lost a wealth of knowledge in both product and client support.

Current upper management is applying food service management paradigms to a group of educated, skilled and self-motivated individuals.

Because BPS dropped the ball in readying the product for the government mandated ICD10 implementation, programmers and managers were told that they could not take vacation for a period of several months until the project was complete. Management announced on a call that employees willing to give up their weekends and nights to the project would be paid a bonus. The project met their deadline, and no bonus was ever paid. Then excuse that management was still discussing the details of the bonuses eventually evaporated into no answer at all, leaving disgruntled employees to commiserate, yet too worried about losing their Job to file a formal complaint.

The demoralization of a group with a long history of dedication and massive industry knowledge is a huge mistake on management's part. Management is grossly underestimating the value of the brain trust they are now working to dismiss.

"You can never make up for knowledge lost"

The company has made it clear that this is knowledge they do not value. It's definitely knowledge that their competitors (or real entrepreneurs) can make great use of.

In my organization, four directors and three VP's were cut. It wasn't just low level people.
