Thread regarding State Street Corp. layoffs

I too remember when people were envious when you said you work at State Street.

It was the company everyone wanted to work for because of its excellent pay and benefits.

Recruiters would constantly call asking workers about any openings in their dept.

Hell some recruiters would offer to pay you for information about job openings.

Now if you say you work at State Street people say " Oh I am so sorry for you " How do you put up with the stress and fear of constantly yearly layoffs."

I cannot echo this strongly enough:

No worries people if you get laid off from there. It will be the best thing that ever happens to you, I promise!

Great piece. Totally agree. Worked there for 3 years 2000-2003. The place was great from 2000, until 9/11. All downhill from there. They were led by David Spina, horrible leader, completely inept, and in over his head. I can't believe how lucky I was, I was in the first round of layoffs in 2003. They have been laying off for 14 years. That place nearly killed me with stress. I had an awesome summer with the kids that year. I currently work in Boston for a West Coast company that cares for employees, and realizes you have other responsibilities after 5.00pm. No worries people if you get layed off from there. It will be the best thing that ever happens to you, I promise!
