Thread regarding State Street Corp. layoffs

What's the percent of females let go?

Seems very high to me from my informal poll. I know 8 females and 3 males. There is a lot of luck of who you have as a boss and how well you get along. Pretty scary that you are one bad boss away from getting handed your walking papers even after a long, solid career. Sad for all those let go. But hope you enjoy the Spring and Summer off at least.

It would surprise me if more women than men were laid off this time. Street Street targeted more senior staff with this round of lay offs and it is known to everyone that females are very under-represented in the senior ranks. Now white males! That's another matter. Despite all the company says to the contrary--State Street is not a diverse/inclusive company. They need to be exposed on this point also.

I agree with you that it is very difficult to find another job if you are over 50. I really hadn't thought of it but do know many more female workers than male workers that were laid off. Their is still the old stereotype that a female worker has a spouse that will support them. This is definitely not true because of the high divorce rate and females that were never married.
