Performance-related layoffs should've been happening since the beginning and should've been on-going. The fact that people are surprised by this makes me believe that there were a sizeable employees who were just sponging off the company.

I think Business related Layoffs have ended. Anymore will be performance related
It will end once the stock price hits the right average for him to receive his $100m bonus.
I think major surgery(cuts) because of merger and reorganization should end by March 2016. Hock was clear that he will get rid of 1900 people by BU sale or layoffs. I assume the BU sale would wait for right value, but cuts should end March.
My impression of Hock so far is that he's brutal but honest and smart. If your group makes money and hits it's goals you get to stay and get good a bonus and RSUs. If your group loses money bye bye. Honestly I could think of a lot of worse places to be right now than Broadcom.
One last comment the two Henry's sold Broadcom down the river, it was not Hock, the guy is blaunt honest and straight as a arrow, He does not lie to you, one of the most honest CEO's I've ever been under.
Broadcom started late interfacing with Avago so layoffs most of the year remember Day 2 is in Dec
I think Hock Tan will buy Marvell or Intel HA ha (about Intel)
well if you look at lsi and Emulex they are still happening I would think sometime in the middle of 2017

Reshuffle planned till March 2018. After that Hock may merge with Qualcom!! So lay offs are going to be a day to day affair. While some people get RSU/Bonus letter, many others will have severance letters instead!
I think it will all end by this March End !!
