Thread regarding McKesson Corp. layoffs

How do they execute layoffs? A call? A conference with HR? Who's present?

How does the actual act of communicating that you've been laid off happen? Do they call you in a conference room? If yes, who is there?

Do you have time to go back to your desk and pick up stuff?

What do they tell you?

How long does it take?

I am extremely nervous, if there is another round then I am expecting to be laid off, not sure why, I just have that horrible gut feeling that things are not working out.

That's good to hear

the leadership here seems sincerely remorseful they have to execute this directive.

It is not so heartless in Richmond. Some VPs schedule meetings with everyone on their teams to let them know if/how they will be impacted. Others schedule outlook meetings only with those being riffed. They read through a script and the HR business partner is there and also follows a script. People I've talked to getting laid off had the rest of the day off but were expected to return the next day and work through a period set by their vp (the week, end of month, etc). For what it's worth, the leadership here seems sincerely remorseful they have to execute this directive.

@GqaXIXp-1khq is correct - this is how they did it in the past, also, the severance payment was better than average

In the past, people are tapped on the shoulder, taken to a room, told they are laid off, probably made to fill out some paper work, then escorted out. They will collect your things in a cardboard box and deliver it to you. It happens that way from the top on down, wham bam thank you maam.

For what it is worth, the process with which they lay people off sucks and is inhumane, but there is typically decent compensation, which they do not need to do.
