Over the next couple months the same analysis that Nordstrom did to their tech division is going to happen in Marketing. If you're in Marketing at Nordstrom, now is the time to update your resume and network.

And so it starts.
Kirk Beardsley who was part of much of the decimation and destruction of the poor people in Technology (he was brought in to do that even though he has no aptitude for either leadership or tech and executed it using his innate ability to not listen to any advice) has now been kicked back to an EVP role in Marketing.
Thank you that he has gone from Tech, although the damage he and the other fools caused will remain for years. They got rid of half the skilled workforce, maintained foolish investments with Infosys and mortgaged the future on the unfathomably expensive NGEN (marketing) replacement, brought in Amazonites who have no understanding of Nordstrom, Retail or Customer Service, scared off, retired or fired all the leadership and left the business looking an IT team consisting of those too scared to leave, too dumb to look or too incompetent to be hired elsewhere. The former leadership are cherry picking the best of those that remain (and their friends) and the recruitment vultures are busy feeding on the rapidly thinning remaining excellence. And those who did leave (voluntarily or otherwise) are busy reporting back how much nicer life is on the outside - better benefits, better pay, proper respect for work/life balance, decent and respected leadership and an ability to get stuff done.
And "the family" sits quiet and watches. How painful it must be to see their company technology ruined. Perhaps now, finally, they will get some proper advice, bring in an experienced and respected retail technology leadership team (NOT a web team) and allow the rebuilding of a once proud organization. Or they could just continue to bury their heads in the sand, watch the share price and innovation slip away, and become just another victim of the Amazon juggernaut....
How do you know? Rumors?
Bring your tech game... you cant survive in a modern business wtihout adaptability and finding ways to automate.
