Thread regarding McKesson Corp. layoffs

Arrogant employees of arrogant managers

McK has very strange style of working. The company lets half the people work from home and other half who are dedicated are let go. Managers owe no one any exploitation for their action to allow their favorites to let them work from home.

Half of them working from home are updated with all movies and keep telling stories of what they saw, what they do when they are at home (mostly sleep and watch TV).

Good buddies of managers are free to use any abusive language in the office. Curse words like "F" and "hell F" work in one sentence will be more than two times. Arrogant employees of arrogant managers. They have a very bad attitude to treat people.

Work pressure for the ones who come to work is double where are the ones who are Work From home is as mentioned above.

I was a remote employee for 12 years and I was laid off. You have no idea what you are talking about. We work hard and one year I was on the road every week except for when I took PTO. It's hell on your family life. We had to travel on weekends many times and work nights when we were at client sites taking care of our other clients. Working remote is great, don't get me wrong, but we paid a price. And by the way, I never had time to watch movies. Get your facts straight.

The OP is spot on to my experience. I work with business units all over the US, and see the exact same work ethic. I've never seen such poorly motivated employees, absent managers and Lack of SOP. Huge bonuses. Lavish parties/gifts. IMHO, at McKesson, the mentality and work culture doesn't focus on "doing the right thing" or delivering a quality product, but rather focuses on outward appearances and skewed perception. Many BU's will cave in the next 6 months. Many employees stay due to benefits, familiarity, seniority and lack of college education. Sadly, those groups are generally terminated first during layoffs. Dust off that resume.

Very arrogant and ignorant comment. I have worked both in the office and from home my entire career. I have worked in the office with people I can't figure out what value they bring to anything and I've worked remotely with people who are constantly delivering. Performance is between the employee and their direct manager. There have been weeks where my work required less than 40 hours to complete. There have been many weeks, months, and years where I've had to work 50-60-70hrs/week to ensure what I'm responsible for gets done. Working from I find it's much harder to stop working. When in the office, I find I'm watching the clock. When can I leave? When at home I find I won't stop until the task/work is done/sufficient. If people take advantage of their situation, that's a performance issue the managers should deal with.

hmmm.... I'm not sure where I would find time to watch movies working 60+ hours a week remote. I do swear alot but in the privacy of my own home it's ok.

I wonder what division you work in. This doesn't sound even a little bit like my McKesson.
