In the end it wasn't really about your skills, experience, or how hard you work, it was about how well you get along with your manager.
Nothing to do with Al or Execs as your manager tried to tell you. Good luck to all that got laid off and everything happens for a reason.
No need for fact checking as everyone has someone that they report to, even managers and directors and in the company, many non-performers got to keep their job because their superior protected them and turned in the ones, even if strong performers, because of personality mismatch. In such a situation these superiors/managers/directors didn't do what was right for the company which is absolutely wrong.

I was told one week per full year of employment. Also some kind of help finding employment. I assume help with my resume, etc. Haven't gotten my package. It is supposed to come in the mail tomorrow.
Maybe do some fact checking....directors and executives families and friends were also laid off. This had nothing to do with "ass kissing."
Agree 100%. I had a great work ethic and great reviews every year. Worked my ass off to save the company money. But it came down to me not kissing ass to the director. Favoritism played a big part of this round but at least I got a nice package to leave. Happy trails!
I agree 100% it was apparent these cuts didn't come from "high level". Nice buffer though. Only further confirms what I felt all along about certain individuals being well taken care of. They were & still are.
Was laid off this morning too (on my day off). I was told the severance package would be mailed to me. Could you give me an insight to the package presented just to get an idea what I have ahead of me? Thabks
