Thread regarding VMware Inc. layoffs

Got laid off when it could have been avoided

So I got laid off from a US location. Later got to know that the VP only asked to lay off 2 people but our director seized the opportunity and laid off 6 people to suit his and his disciples needs who are trying to a coup for higher positions. The office politics in VMWare is one of the first in the US. No personal growth, waste of talent and management is just plain bad as anybody can see from what they announced and their nonsense roadmaps. I was already planning to move to a better job but was waiting for I140 to complete. luckily it got approved days before this stupidity. Now I have from 4 companies and counting including a core team in VMware(yeah it's that stupid). I'd not recommend anybody to join VMWare for at least next 5 years until management get their priorities right.

The H-1B program is destroying the salaries for all of us, it needs to be shut down.

What's the source of this information? How do you even know it could have been avoided?

Which BU were you working ? Since you are already laid off, how does it matter to call out names.

I was laid off from MSBU when my group's VP clearly gave the word in all hands that noone in his team would be touched.

I went to his office on the day of layoff and sent him some messages since, but I guess he has no words to give out anymore. Nepotism and politics is at its highest in VMWare right now and they may as well start having a quota for friends and family employment as benefit in their benefits package.
