Thread regarding Kmart layoffs

Loyal store employee

Kmart used to be an awesome place to work when I started back in the 70's , management really cared about the employee and sales were good . I believe it is more corporate greed that run this company into the ground along with a lot of poor choices.

Agree. My mom worked for Kmart for over 30 years and I worked for them for over 25. Used to be great. Company parties, sense of family, loved the customers, everyone loved their job and would have done anything for the company. Then Eddie bought the company and everything changed. It just seemed like corporate didnt care about anything but some metric, getting people to sign up for something. They got rid of everything that people came into the store for and changed everything to some corporate idea.

Changed stores to a corporate cookie cutter (all stores the same). Our store is in a beach, fishing, outdoor town. We used to do crazy buisness in that area. Then corporate decided that all Kmart stores needed to down-size their sporting goods, fishing area. Went from five rows of fishing, outdoors to less that one row.
