Fired after 35 yrs with IBM and excellent evaluations every year. Knew it was just a matter of time. IBM classified older workers as "retired"...obviously skewing the numbers. This time around 30 days severance. Year after year IBM takes more from employees and is on track to reduce US regular workforce and replace them with contractors, vendors and those with work Visas and offshore work, searching for the cheapest labor. Its the old shell game. All while the company continues to report consecutive losing quarters since Ginny's reign began, the queen got a big salary & bonus. Blood money. Board of Directors sleeping on the job or in bed with Ginny. Would discourage anyone from taking a job with IBM.

62 YO and 15 years with IBM I was told I was retirement eligible and received the Resource Action.
I have 31 years with the company and I am 55 years old. In an impromptu meeting with four layed-off employees, our manager looked at me and told me I was retirement eligible. Like hell I am! Who is IBM management to tell me that I am eligible for retirement at 55 years old??

IBM is held together by share buybacks and some poor bastard called Raj who lives in the passageway of a share house. So glad to be gone from that sinking ship.
This is sad. As I keep saying, the ones getting laid off are the lucky ones. Ginny is a complete idiot! I knew it when they started selling off assets. No one on the Board has any balls to do anything. They are just as bad or worse than our leading moron!
Very interesting comment on IBM counting pension eligible people as already retired. Grateful to have lasted 34 years. When I think of the impact 34 years has taken on my health and well being I can scarcely believe it.

How can someone the CEO I might add get an $11 Million Dollar Bonus for 16 Quarters of missing the Companies Numbers.....if you are in Sales they fired you after the 3 rd missed Quarter!!!
