Yes, it's tough. yes it's stressful. Welcome to the real world. Anadarko has been riding a beautiful wave of success and growth, with employees living a holiday ranch lifestyle complete with world class fitness centers, Fridays off, minimum 4 weeks vacation but often 8, on site car detailing and dry cleaning, subsidized cafeteria, seemingly training budgets and one of the prettiest office towers in suburbia, ....Now the reality of the energy business catches up with you. If you have planned to make a career in this business, hopefully you planned your personal affairs to weather storms like this, as all of the old veterans and survivors of the 80's and 90's have. Not many of them bought BMWs and Mercedes' when they were in their 20s and 30s or took on mortages beyond their means, they knew the highs and lows of a commoditiy-based business are inevitable. If you didnt think about that, you will feel more like the millions of folks around the country who are really scraping to make a living and cant even imagine the luxury that you all have enjoyed. Take control of what you can, be resourceful and harden the f^*k up. We will all live through this yet again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unkIVvjZc9Y

To every poster on this link;
I fart in your general direction.
Charlie Chan coming you way, do 300 day bit trip, not reach oryfice yet
Charlie Chan go F$$K yourself. APC has been Veddy Veddy good to me. If I make the cut or not, they have provided for my family and I very well.
APC good company I see very nice campus last year. We make big contractor for China Sea project, sorry for people at 7 dollar. Office very crowding out for new contractor, APC spend money for future.
I agree, "holiday ranch lifestyle"?? I must be getting screwed because I am busting my ass off at work.
4000 views, wow
The comments of one individual who is obviously trying get a rise out of you do not represent the true APC. Good company. Great employees. Tough times. Let's all hold our tongues and keep our heads.
And this the true APC sad
A few of these benefits are free, some subsidized, some are paid for by employees. The company benefits by keeping employees at work longer, there is lower employee turnover, and the benefits entice employees to work in the culturally-retarded brain dead suburbs. The company offers these benefits because the cost benefit analysis favors the company.
Personally I would rather have received the cash value of these benefits to take with me instead of having the decision to siphon money away into some quasi-socialist program by some paternalistic bureaucrat.
Because there is a large number of employees at The Woodlands campus, the cost per employee is much lower.
For those in other locations, comparable benefits makes less sense because you are second class citizens whose "contributions" are laughed at by management, and your health, safety and job satisfaction are not sufficiently a priority.
We pay for the auto detailing as we do for the dry cleaning. The onsite clinic and fitness center keeps us fit and lessens health issues thereby increases productivity. The subsidized cafeteria encourages us to step away from our desks; some groups spend time brainstorming at the cafeteria tables.
Our Fridays off, actually every other Friday off, is earned by the working (8) 9 hour days and an 8 hour alternate Friday. We use that time to have our home appliances serviced, meet with teachers, arrange health care for elderly parents, etc. that would normally disrupt an active work day.
Many of us struggle to use all of our PTO. I know many that have their calendar blocked and notes on their office door but are in there office, especially in December.
Yes, I drink the Kool-Aid. I have worked all of my life to get where I am at. And if it ends this week, this month, this year, I’m good. I have been in this industry for 30 years and am well prepared for a downturn. Anadarko Petroleum Corporation is on my resume, which speaks volumes for my work ethic and character.
Fire at will …. Because whatever happens this week, those of us who live the APC Mission and Vision will tighten our belt and make the best of an unfortunate oil market, as we have before and will do again.
Living a holiday ranch lifestyle?
What departmemt do you work in, I want to stop working nights and weekends and have your gig.
I'm so drunk and high I can't ever type and will still take your jobs.
One site auto detailing? Must be nice in the Woodlands. We get a piss-sprayer elevator in Denver. People in Woodlands are spoild. I hope APC moves the HQ to Alief to save money. Enjoy running the Rockies from TX. We'll be on our way for the jobs soon. I'll make sure to piss in your elevator.
You're self righteousness makes me so hard. Keep talking.
Based on the lack of old veterans currently in the industry, I'd say that the majority of you probably did blow through your paychecks on BMWs and mortgages back in the late 80s. If your generation hadn't jumped ship when things got tough, we wouldn't be faced with the "great crew change" today. Congrats to you on not being an idiot. Now how about you get off your bullshit soap box and help teach the younger generation or get out of the industry? Bunch of whiners and malcontents my ass...if that's not the pot calling the kettle black then I don't know what is.
Bad finger McGeezer say's stop whining you malcontents, we McGeezers found all the oil so you can drive your BMWs around town and send your kids to private schools.
wow - didn't take long for the ugliness to blossom here. yeah, some of us old codgers learned the hard way in the 80s but we have tried to educate the younger workers to live on one check and save the other for the downturns. however, some folks just gotta piss on the fence.....
Young people smell. Really bad.
Would you believe some of the younger folks actually worked a shit ton of even of nights and weekends in order to make the salaries that financed some of these luxuries that you're imagining they bought. How about you take your "hard" ass down the road and get f---ed. You're on a mountain in your own mind, but I'm willing to bet that the people around you see you for the salty motherfucker you are.
