Thread regarding Anadarko Petroleum Corp. layoffs

KMG was the worst thing to happen to APC - the amount of dross we acquired - assets and people

It's was no accident that KMG guys were all of the ops VPs post the merger (minus the Struble mistake). KMG made APC what it is today. Like it or not.

The KMG acquisition provided leases, reserves, technology, and people who knew how to use technology to find and produce reserves. If not for KMG, Anadarko would still be trying to figure out how to drill deeper gas wells in the Panhandle, and how to keep drilling mud from turning to cement.

Plenty of rimmers to be had next week. Be sure to dress for the occasion and bring your sweaty wad of $1's while you still got em.

Ans C. Actually I wanted a rimmer. But it wasn't personal. The line was just too long.

LOLOLOL, wow, somebody is either:

a. Angry that APC purchased such a lowdown, dirty company

b. Angry that APC had to take the bad, along with the profit, incurred with their acquisition.

c. Angry that they couldn't get a b--- j-- from an ex KMG'er in the company bathroom

d. All of the above

BTW, does anyone know how to play Dixie on the harmonica?

Sorry, didn't mean to hit a nerve. Except for killing Karen Silkwood and huge environmental disasters, I think you are a pretty great bunch of cats.

Oh, and Oklahoma. That whole inbreeding made you look weird, but I try not to stare per the company policy of inclusiveness.

We cool?

Some of you motherfuckers act like Anadarko never would've been without you. It's shit like that I don't miss about that place. There are great people there; some of you are not them. It is interesting to pull back the thin veneer and see that yes, the wood is rotten, the structure not quite so sturdy. Makes me not feel so crazy for leaving there. Those of you who don't make it: I know it won't be easy at first. Not in this economy. But I assure you, there is life beyond APC.

Kerr McGee acquisition was a mistake. Too many useless people hanging onto their jobs from prior acquisitions.

You know, in my 10+ years at Anadarko, I encountered so many people that looked down on KMG people. They held them back and thought of them as inferior. I saw it over and over. It's no accident that most of the people being cut next week will be from the KMG acquisition. For awhile I thought maybe it was just my imagination, but this thread pretty much sums it up to be true. I find it really funny that in your own APC career twilight, you'd still hang on to that hate. Oh yeah, hate Denver while you're at it. That's OK, Denver has long known the scoop on arrogant Texans long before this. I guess you won't be vacationing to the ski slopes this year. Your hate dies with you next week...

ENI found its Moz gas in RB before Anadarko. I could draw a line connecting the hydrocarbon finds all around the Southern Hemisphere. And I can tell you where the next fields are likely to be.

It wasn't that difficult to spot one of the largest deposits in the world if you already know where to look.

@1uyr

You know what they say, when you have a problem with everyone else, the problem is usually you. Perhaps KM people "had no idea what you were talking about" when you offered your critiques because your critiques were inane bullshit. Perspective, my friend.

Funny how a KM geo discovered Moz. Just a fact jack.

More often than not the KMG geo-science people I came across were so incompetent it was embarrassing. When you critiqued their work they simply had no idea what you were talking about.

KM and the people that came with it - MADE apc a successful company. Look at the assets that KM brought with it. Remember that the majority of laid off employees at that merger were APC. Just reality. Let's count the number of CEOs that came from APC - That would be ZERO. Now let's count those from KM - they currently lead several LARGE APC competitors.

Don't fall for random posts of silly comments. They're just enjoying getting a rise out of people. Probably isn't even an employee.

.....and for those saying to grow up and it's just business, realize everyone's situation is different. Having respect and compassion are what's important here.

APC was dead before KMG. I'll take my enhanced KMG pension gladly

Must be tough.

Besides, APC cherry picked the people they wanted to keep from KMG and kicked the rest to the curb. Now those that were cherry picked get to be targets because of their KMG pension plan.
