Do you know anything about massive layoffs at USPS that are slated for this and next year? I cannot locate much information on the internet but there are many rumors floating around that say that possible massive cuts might be coming very soon. Please share any info that you might have - this is about USPS and any other company that handles mail transpiration.

Postal management is the primary problem. I worked at a midsize post office for three months during the holiday season. During that time we had 3 different station managers. Mail Carriers were told to drive 20 minutes to a neighborhood , deliver 30 minutes worth of mail, then drive back to the office, all in the span of 30 minutes. Even Superman could not accomplish that. And then we got yelled at when we came back an hour later, After sitting in 5 miles of rush hour traffic. some of the managers are Completely incompetent and uncaring.

All people who stereotype are real IDIOTS! See how that works?
I have 5 kids all are productive members of society and work VERY hard! My 3 daughters all in their 30's are working to put themselves thru university and they are taking full class loads. One has been on the Deans list more than twice. They worked full time before entering university. Every single on of my kids has worked 3 jobs at some point in their lives and one of those jobs was full time the other 2 were part time.
So now what were you saying? "Now do you want to talk about this millennial generation that you try to train on the job....let's not even go there.THEY DON'T WANT TO WORK."
You're spreading LIES
The post office is going downhill. Lazy, rude people that don't work at all. I worked at the p.o. for 12 years. Management isn't doing their job. Pretty much the leaders are The Union. The Union run the P.O.
Recreate that stupid contract, before the P.O. falls all the way to the floor!i Delete 80% of Union rights
-
Make people work (not forcely, Get rid of them like any other workplace would)
-
alot of s-xual harrasment cases (The Union protects the harrassers)
-
I dont want a corrupted union
I've been with the USPS for 32 yrs and I've been in 6 different states. Management is one problem employees and the lack of them as.well as their training is another. Spending and the wastefulness is something that is unbelievable. Now do you want to talk about this millennial generation that you try to train on the job....let's not even go there.THEY DON'T WANT TO WORK.
Amazon is gearing-up to build their own delivery system that will rival the usps.
They are also considering a buyout of UPS. This would be instant system that is already super efficient.
Maybe a Vera will be offered to create landing spots for all these people

Number 1: Postal Employees have NOT been GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES since 1970. They are: wait for it, POSTAL EMPLOYEES. As Bubba, above stated, it is management and the Republicans who want to take over the lucrative business of mail and package industry. The Postal Service is the most poorly managed company in the WORLD. The Republicans have been trying to privatize the USPS since the strike in 1970 when Postal Workers finally got a decent living wage. Then years later, Congress forced them to pay their medical and retirement contributions sooner than the other government agencies, trying to break the PO so they could privatize it. Thereby giving the "Free Market" greedy Capitalists the lucrative business so they could cut wages and benefits and raise rates for the post office services. And that's the facts Jack.
Only thing I have seen are the layoffs slated in the U.K. Nothing in the USA.
Lauren, well we hate you too. And since you can ship yourself you can process and deliver it also. It's not all of us & you don't know what we the workers go through with management so put up with them.
The post office needs a complete overhaul. Lazy delivery people that throw packages vs. walking and leaving at a door when oversized. Counter people who appear clueless. It is no surprise that this dysfunctional part of the US Gov't is a mess... Another place to drain the swamp...
The postoffice can not layoff letter carriers as they have
a no strike , no layoff agreement.
The current problems at the post office are caused by mismanagement
At all levels. The employee can only do what their told to do
management, if their is problem call 1-800-ASK-USPS
every time include time and date of complaint.
HAHA I hope so! I hate the USPS and all the rude illiterate workers that work there. We can ship mail ourselves. They need to return to school and find new careers. The writing is on the wall.
