Leaving on 5/31, here is my bye-bye note to the execs, I know for sure some of them are following this forum:
-
Benefits: Benefits are bad and they certainly lag behind the industry. Do something about this, people care about this more than anything.
-
Salaries: Salary levels are below averages, IBM lags industry and annual increases are hit or miss. Think about it, your people are pissed and do not like working for less than they deserve, many of them are very talented and IBM is luck to have them - do something there - yes, you can pay, you pay hundreds of millions to Ginny & Co. every year, that can be given to workers
-
Pay Increases: Increase percentages are a joke, 1% increase is deemed good - so much for that...
-
Strategy: No clear direction from upper management, they hide and do not communicate pretty much anything that's relevant, they will tell you about initiatives that nobody cares for...
-
Vision: There is none... You will get a lot of "buzz" words.
-
HR: We see to hire the worst HR people in the industry - they have to be double-faced and ruthless. They will have no clue what they are talking about. Where do they find them? Find someone who cares about workers.
-
Direction: Damn it, stop swinging every time the wind blows and adopt a clear strategy... Show clear direction and do things that show that you care about the people - we do not need buzz words. "Remixing of skills " is one of them - drop it, tell it like it is - LAYOFFS - no resource action, no remixing, no realignment, no reduction in force, no redundancies - it's LAYOFFS, own it, IBM LAYOFFS, that is what you need to tell the workers so everyone is clear about what's going on
-
Values: Talk is cheap, do something, support the stated values with actions
-
Workers: Yes, most of you are sheep and are stuck in the herd - all of you are going off the cliff. Me too - I will leaping over the ledge on 5/31... However, you can stand up and be vocal.
