Thread regarding IBM layoffs

RA'd or Angry? Here's what to do

Go on glassdoor.com and post an anonymous review of your time working at IBM. Don't forget to rate the CEO (Ginny Rometty). Get a job with another company and make sure they understand what is going on inside of IBM. Use your first amendment rights and speak out. IBM is sinking itself but the execs don't care, they are all cashing out their stock (see the public filings) and looting and pillaging. It's DISGUSTING that so many families are being destroyed while they give a CEO that has presided over 14 straight quarters of declining revenue a $4.5 million bonus. Even Buffet is fed up. Now there are a new crop of thousands of ex-IBMers out there telling competitors and customers how bad it really is. And the ones that are left are so demoralized they don't even put in half an effort. People aren't showing up for calls, aren't putting in any effort, now more than ever. That's what I'm seeing. The list of MAJOR big customers who are incensed at the horrible quality of our recent software products (cloud and on-premesis) is growing more and more every week. But please, go on glassdoor so that others aren't suckered into working at IBM. The number of job postings Ginny refers to is BS (qualifications are made so stringent that nobody qualifies, they are just there for PR, she admitted this herself saying "tougher than MIT"). And the 70,000 "new" employees are from acquisitions and surely will be RA'd soon or in the future or leave as soon as they see what a horrible, stressful place this is to work at.

Was RA'd over the phone. Knew it as soon as my manager asked via IM to talk because he never communicates. Can feel his lip shaking as he read the script to me, advising me of the key points of the agreement like it was so special and I, a 16 year employee should be appreciative.. When he mentioned the severance I had to laugh..I still think this is a joke. So now we count down, look for opportunities and get ready to watch ibm stock to drop line a rock..which reminds me, better sell in the morning.

Posting on GD is OK but you guys need to understand that they make all the money by pushing job postings and collecting from HR dpts for page management - so, it's in their best interest is to be on the side of the employer - LinkedIn or TV behave the same way, when are you going to see something really bad on TV about a major corporation that buys millions in TV ads. The same applies to GD, it's all about job postings for them, and IBM is the biggest poster of jobs over there... Just saying, I am not trying to diminish the importance of their service, but it's unlikely that you'll see a realistic picture over there - you need to dig much deeper into GD and analyze what people write and that takes effort, it's all about that front page where all glowing reviews are displayed, and they are hand-selected by IBM HR - you are not going to see RA news there, you are not going to hear about the severance pay cuts, about Ginny's bonuses...

Look at what Glassdoor displays when you land at IBM Reviews page - this is the first thing you see and it has been hand selected to show up on the first page, this occupies the most prominent spot on the page, it's really indicative of what is going on there:

I have been working at IBM full-time

IBM Human Resources did it right. From the basic premise of a need to change, to using agile methods for design and feedback, to rolling it all out. They really are walking the talk when it comes to how best to provide feedback in a fast-moving, social environment. While the outside debate rages on about the value of performance management systems, IBM has done something about it, and has spent time listening to employees and incorporating their feedback into the design elements of the new system. No more forced distribution, with multiple touchpoints during the year and a human-scale time horizon around goal-setting and goal attainment. All around, this is one of the best approaches to performance management that I've seen.

Yes, when I went to Glass Door to post an entry, the only ones I saw were glowing for IBM. My 25+ years meant nothing to IBM so I advise others to find another job and leave the company. There are other jobs and companies out there.

Do people work or is everyone gone mad and spending time on layoffs.com?

Please clarify

even buffet is fed up

He is getting his 4 percent dividend, he is making money while waiting for the stock to go up

Me thinks Buffett will be dead by the time IBM is up meaningfully. He is getting somewhat senile now in case you have not noticed.

You can actually send multiple reviews to Glassdoor - I've done one form my stint at GBS and the other one for my current experience (Software Sales)

@GekTKUp-uuq nails it here

It will crater yet again in another month when the 1Q numbers are released, there is nothing in the sales pipeline.

There are plenty of negative reviews there, including mine. Just be professional and it should be fine. Don't forget to rate the CEO. Buffet did say recently that buying "may" have been a mistake. The numbers speak for themselves. It's not up that much, and just another temporary spike because Wall st loves layoffs. It will crater yet again in another month when the 1Q numbers are released, there is nothing in the sales pipeline.

Glassdoor makes no sense as you cannot be open there - they censor

But IBM glassdoor page is sponsored by IBM HR and every single entry is moderated and edited.

The game is rigged there and HR is using it as a recruitment tool - we are in bed with glassdoor (most big companies are, that is how glassdoor makes money) - just look at the recommended posts - a praise to HR effort in redesingning the performance evaluation process.. WOWW
