The Corporate does not get it… Repeated Leadership and Department reorgs cause huge confusion – someone please tell them this and I know they are reading this board, so here you have it. There is so much distraction and delayed progress across the board.
For an example, in the couple of years I've been at Sports Authority, they introduced two different company Presidents, 3 CIOs, in IS there are 2 new VPs. OK? Then one VP was fired, they decided not to bring a replacement. On top of this, they added a major reorganization of each department.
Just ask managers if they know what their goals are – nobody has any clue.
Several groups were asked to cut their budgets, OK, you’d say it’s normal. But then they hire contractors to the tune of well over a $1M you should be asking yourself if we made a smart decision here.
Internal processes are very immature, a lot of them are manual. Minimal best practices exist, and if they do they are not enforced as nobody cares and management is not capable to execute.
The culture is venomous, a lot of primadonnas run around here – a lot of whining, stalling, backstabbing, etc. Temper tantrums abound. Overall, it’s very unprofessional…
Add all of this up and ask yourself a question – DOES SPORTS AUTHORITY HAVE FUTURE?
