Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Csat cheats

I used to be a g.m. for staples and I new alot of manager's that cheated. One bought a burn phone and collected receipts from the trash and would call them in. He never got caught always finished platinum and is now a d.m. the person who took over for him could not even get to silver. New some one else who called them in on a pay phone. Then there was a idiot that used there home phone and got fired. Any one else know cheating secrets?

Having your family not come in the store to visit you when they bring you lunch is an easy one to keep conversion a good game number.

Also having your family buy a laptop from your store with a warranty and then having them return the warranty to your sister store.

After reading many of the posts on this website, my only comment is that this company is without doubt stacked in the corporate level with idiots.

No body bitch'n here just talking about how people are pressured to cheat by the corporate idiots and how they love a false # to report to wall street! When the D.M.s are telling how to manipulate #s you know its coming from some one hire up.

Vibe is/was a complete joke and waste of money. If a manager did not know that getting customers to buy and not leave empty handed, raise the DPT, or when their busy periods were then they should not have their job.

When they put the sensors over the door to count customers back in 2010 out DM swore up and down that all variables had been factored into the counts - associates going in/out for carts, families shopping BTS and making 1 or 2 transactions for 5 people entering, etc etc... Cut to last year when there was a conference call regarding how to manipulate the conversion # !!!.

Staples major problem is not so much Amazon or Walmart as much as it is Wallstreet and being a publically traded company.

I have not been there for over two years and don't know if they still track conversion. I knew a lot of g.m. that was cheating to get the number. Having associates enter and exit through the back door, ringing up associates items 1 at a time, closing off the entrance door and having customers enter through the exit door for a couple hours. When these morons learn when they put to much focus on things they will get a false # that makes them feel good. Have a green day! Give me a break Staples spent millions of dollars on this worthless program.

When the d.m. came down on stores about rewards capture and all the cashiers, we had one girl that just rang in everyone without one under different cards she had at the register....just so she was compliant ..she was so afraid of loosing her job over that.......the stores rewards penitration was a lie. Every store has "secrets" of success.

Everything will eventually be told, many g.m's lie and cheat to make the metric that they are being yelled at for...csat payroll in stock...Inventory. ...rewards. I was personally told to just hit auto receipt and print one for the customers just to bring up the count. This was, said by the district manager. They all cheat and lie. They are all bull sh-- artists to say the least. Everyone knows staples is going down!!! If not this year, then the next.

This is too funny and the reports above ring true. Some GM's adopted a simple philosophy. If CSAT was the problem focus ONLY on CSAT. I mean to the exclusion of ALL else for a month. CSAT would improve and the trolls would choose something else to focus on ... Lets call it metric X. These GM's , without batting an eye, breaking a sweat or giving a rats asswould then focus on metric X until the trolls lost interest yet again. You see the trolls could only focus on one metric easily so by the time they switched gears it was always too late. The new attack approach was designed. Focus on any metric that was bad on an individual store basis (not matter how insignificant it might be to overall performance). This was somewhat more successful in being able to PIP out the highly compensated (READ OLDER) managers. However even this approach had limitations since it was inherently flawed because it meant the trolls had to use a different standard for each store...

The guy with the burner phone probably had people covering for him. Corporate loves to have their "shill" stores that over perform so they can call everyone else on the carpet for not even coming close. There's always one store that goes over payroll and never gets called out for it...then the DM makes the whole district cut hours to make up that stores overage.

I believe there is some merit to the Csat program, but it is ultimately meant to be used against stores.

Some scores simply should not be counted. "Ink's to high" - "you didn't have 1/3" book rings" - "store was really short staffed, I had to wait three minutes for help in printers " - etc.

I never cheated on it, but I can totally understand why some feel the deck is stacked against them and do so.

I didn't see it with CSAT. However, I saw a lot of shady stuff with warranties. They would look for a sale price from a competitor, or a coupon and include the warranty in the price. Then they bragged about what great sales people they were. What a bunch of crooks. Glad I'm gone.
