i dont know why everyones so pessimistic, HDD will always be around or else these cloud computing companies aren't going to be in business, just wont be as popular as it was 15-20 years ago.. if someone inside WD can find a way to develop a super HDD with similar capabilities as the SSD or whatever WD will be back in business...think everyone think...
weell, the bet is now on Sandisk. except Sandisk is behind on 3d nand tech
And HGST is the same joke ...BET ON IT
Silicon systems team could never create a product to sell. those guys were all cost, no sales.
Yeah and WD had acquired silicon systems SSD and we all know what happened to them...they were all layed off!!!!
Have you guys been asleep since 2010? It's been in decline for several years, that was the reason for purchasing HGST in the first place.
Declining PC sales does hurt WD, emerging SSD hurts HGST business.
It impacts the enterprise sector more this time around. This sector will continue to decline over the next several quarters
If I understand correctly, declining PC sales mostly impacts the WD sub. HGST is more focused on Enterprise, so declining PC sales probably doesn't hurt HGST, right? So maybe this news impacts WD Irvine the most, since WD Irvine focuses more on the PC/Laptop market?
This is a Kodak moment
I am perplexed that some people still do not understand that our HDD business will phase out completely fairly quickly
So, that mean WD will go the way of Poloroid. Need Sandisk to save WD before the whole HDD ship sink.
Seagate will become Kodak in 5 years.
