Layoff List?

From what I'm told from former colleagues, there may be a list that has been presented to people upon there layoff. The list contains positions/titles and age of people that may be laid off if things don't turn around. Has anyone else heard of this?

Did the same thing in the west region-keeping incompetent and worthless employees to save a buck. They also were not shy in the least bit about a 'friends and family network' keeping thier jobs over seasoned, knowledgeable and very dedicated employees.

Lack of regional leadership with knowledge of wellhead procedures, and individuals who had a say in who stays and goes-made suggestions to eliminate jobs based more on personal inadequacy than what was best for FMC and obviously didn't believe thier own line of BS that 'FMC is looking for the best talent'.

Can't wait for all the worthless people to be looking for work soon, and many of them will be interviewed by those of us leading other local businesses now (because other companies can see talented leaders and appreciate thier talent)-pretty sure you will NOT get the job!

Did the exact same thing in Erie, Pa by letting go the hardest working most productive individuals in Production and keeping the "C" students. They are now running the place but with 1/4 the seniority and most likely 3/4 of the salary. Doesn't quite go along with what FMC was preaching a year ago about attracting and maintaining top talent. Valuing the knowledge of senior employees. As usual all those luncheon speeches were just a bunch of "BULLSHIT" as expected but they were given by the best "BULLSHIT" experts in that field.

The list IS true! I got one when they laid me off. It lists EVERY individual at your respective base (w/out naming names), your position title, sex, age and they give a code number which clarifies if you were given the opportunity to relocate or simply were being let go. The list also includes past layoffs at all the other bases as well-with the same layout.

It's pretty obvious that with all the higher tenured people they forced out over the past two years, and the higher positions at each of the bases (Ops mngrs, ICS, Mat Spclsts etc., etc), that FMC is positioning itself to sell wellhead!

They kept low seniority, lowest waged employees and all around lazy, a$$ kissers- and let experienced knowledgable hard workers go where I was at.

Just spoke with a friend from another base and they did the same there, letting go one particular person who is one of the best people and workers I've had the privilege of working with and for (and had over 20 years with FMC)!

You say there are a "couple" of functions that maintains a list, then you name several functions that cover most of the company. You must be one of the management MORONS running this company into the ground!!!!!

There are at least a couple of functions that maintains a global namelist by ranking. The list can be adjusted based on the requirements of the management. Functions having such a list includes procurement, HR, finance, engineering and manufacturing

It's not illegal. It's required by law, part of the ADEA act. Google it. It's meant to help protect older workers against discrimination.

I heard about this too. Once this list is finalized, the product line manager provides the list to the HR business partner.

I had heard that as well, but it sounded so unlikely that I assumed the person misunderstood.
