What is the severance being offered and who is eligable. Been a part time BA for 23 years.
They thought that B2k will work in every store but my store is ding horrible in sales. There more asking for Mass products than prestige makeup and skin..
For Beauty consultant they had option but did not thought in a positive way. They could have told BA to do the certification and they could be trained by some out side agency but Management has chosen short cut. If you do not give them training and think that these BAs are not competent , you are paying more money. It is some what art but not the rocket science. You are paying $ 9 -$ 10 to BAS but you will pay $14 to BC. Walmart is paying $ 10 to cashier so management is not paying higher.Your company requires union otherwise every one will be exploited. I personally against the union but the same time I am against the exploiting of worker. If you need more productive work with quality, try to maintain the quality of you staff life. If their husbands are not earning good , Walgreen girl can afford any cosmetic they are selling.
Certification is not necessary for Beauty consultant and it is necessary for Boot Beauty Consultant. They also have look beauty consult. You store does not have SFL position you will be asked to CSA and it depend upon your current pay and work you are doing. If you are not overpaid you will not face pay cut. But same time if you are lucky you will get more money for SFL. It is all situation based and it is depending upon the your District Manager.
And there is no fun with any position as these Positions will be under pressure. I am not against manager or District Manager but they are really overpaid and they are non productive assets. Walgreen is distributing more money to non productive Management staff. Most of the manager does not have any creative idea they are running the show and I do not think it requires any extra skill. More than 50k, they do not deserve. In most of the organization , people who paid more than 50k they are having good education and creativity and more intelligence to do their job. Do not worry these are my personal views but please do not take seriously.

Walgreens is really going down the drain. I am an SBA and have been working at Walgreens for 23+ years. My manager and another manager talked me into applying for the beauty consultant position which I did and it doesn't seem like I got it. I am not a cosmetologist or anything like that. Also they were saying that the beauty consultant positions hours would be late afternoon and night hours. I can't do that for different reasons. I have had a set schedule because of health issues etc. and now they say with this beauty consultant position they can't get around the hours. So, I have no idea what is going to happen. I wish that someone would tell me what will happen.
I have been with the company 11 years as SBA and was told by my store manager today that I can take severance package or take a pay cut and move to CSA
I do not think they will get rid of the beauty adviser.I was told at first they were,now I am told a few of the stores will be getting updated and those stores will have the new licensed beauty consultants. They need the beauty advisers:)
They are not just renaming the position. They will be hiring actual cosmeticians for the beauty consultant position. The SBAs that really work myself included will have to deal with being cut and losing the hours this means sbas will have to go either to pharmacy or become a shift lead these are all just ploys to get shift leads by corporate. There is too much responsibility and not enough pay it is terrible. This company is going to rot it is already showing with the stocks being down not surprising.
Cosmology license. Give me a break they are not paying enough for that position. Really any position within the company the pay is not enough. Before they went in with boots things were so much better.
Then that's the case then our beauty section is going down hill. I also heard that the cos girl will be wearing blue for now on.. I wonder what's plans they have for the Look Boutique???

My wife has worked for Walgreen's for 10+ years and was given the news today, The Manager had no details other than she would be offered a severance package or a regular store position with a cut in pay. Oh, and this is suppose to happen by the first of May. I guess they think they are going to be the next Dillard's when it comes to cosmetics. Come on it's Walgreen's!!!
I was told today Walgreens no longer will have beauty advisers,they will be called beauty consultants and must have a cosmetology license....
