Thread regarding Devon Energy Corp. layoffs

Seems to me there are a lot of present Devon employees on this Web Site. Why would you be looking around a Layoff Web Site if you got to keep your job? You would be better off working, and trying to add some value to Devon. Instead you come on this site and talk like the ones laid of got what they deserved, and you are above it all. Understand there were many who volunteered for the package and left on their own terms with a nice payout. There were also a lot of good people who were just caught up in the numbers game. I worked at Devon since 2009 and took the package. From day one there was always talk of being acquired and it never happened. Over the last few years the same thing has been said over and over, and it does not happen. If Devon was not bought when the stock went down the lowest a few months ago then Devon will not be bought. Stop wishing for something that is not going to happen and make the company stronger. Reading the post on this site you would think the cream of the crop was kept. If that is the case then get to work and get the stock price up in these tough times. It is up to you guys to make Devon the best place to work, and a great company. To get on this site and bad mouth Devon and Devon former employees does no one any good. If you look at this site once during your work day you are not doing your job. Be glad you kept your job, because there are very few E&P jobs out there right now. Work hard and get that stock price up!!

Why would you look at this website if you are NO LONGER a Devon employee? This is where we go to try to get information on upcoming layoffs/decisions. If you are no longer an employee then why in hell would you care what is going on up there? This has to be one of the dumbest posts on this site. And I completely with@1sym. It is great capper material. To the original poster, if you are no longer an employee, then you sir, need to let go, and get a freakin life instead of trolling a website created for...listen closely....CURRENT DEVON EMPLOYEES to try to weed out the trolls and get some information. We are all aware that 1 round of layoffs isn't going to magically turn the company right back to the old Devon of the glory days, therefore, there will likely be more decisions to make by the time the next earnings call comes theough. Again OP - in the words of my daughter - LET IT GO, LET IT GO, and find a new website to troll....THAAAAANKS!!

I hate to tell you this but Devon did not keep the cream of the crop. There were several top level preformers that were let go because they cost Devon more money than someone that was not cream of the crop. It happens in my team. I had no say so in who was let go and only found out the day before my team members were released.
