Thread regarding DST Systems Inc. layoffs

DST has no data security, and/or doesn't care

I formerly worked at DST Systems Inc. I can tell you one story that sticks in my mind. Had a DST employee that I had met once or twice call me at home one night at midnight. Said she needed my password to access accounts to fix something - hers wasn't working. Now I had a password that allowed access to literally millions of shareholder records including social security numbers. I gave her my ID and dummy password - she tried it three times and got locked out. That gave an audit trail of her activity. The next morning I spoke to the top security officer at DST and told him what happened, He looked at the failed attempts on a report, then unlocked my password and took no further action. That is "not caring" isn't it???

I would have told her no. Contact your manager, but I will not provide you with my logon information.

No, the real issue with is, is why the F you gave someone else YOUR id and password?? That's against policy and IMO that 'top security officer' should have taken action against YOU or maybe that is exactly what DID happen and why you are a former employee now??
