Devon Energy has good quality oil and gas reserves with low-cost production capacity. However, DVN has a relatively leveraged balance sheet. Also, it has no adequate derivative coverage for 2016. In addition to this, unfavorable energy prices prevail.

Given the fact that energy prices are still in a downtrend, if they fall further, DVN will be at great risk of steep falls in its earnings.

A president can't turn Devon around, but they can sure appoint a boatload of administrators to EPA, BLM, DOE, OSHA, Dept. of Commerce. All of the higher positions in these agencies, down to the regional administrators, are political appointees. They can't ban fracking or injection wells but they can sure cause so much grief that you reconsider the cost

Better pray that if we must have a Democrat for president, and we will if Trump is the nominee, that we get Hillary. Bernie does not understand horizontal drilling or fracturing. He will do everything he can to stymie the oil companies. And, Trump is ominously quiet on energy. Remember, he has New York values and New York has banned fracturing. How they do that, legally is beyond me. We need Cruz.
