Looks fairly inevitable that the next round of Q2 cuts will be deep, especially with no new customer awards for services. What has been people's packages who are laid off, both salary and hourly? Has anyone had any luck negotiating for a better severance?

I have worked on Wall Street for over 20 years...THAT IS A QUESTIONS HE IS SUPPOSED TO ASK...WOWW you people. When you are being laid off...we were taught IN BUSINESS SCHOOL about attrition and layoffs you SHOULD ALWAYS NEGOTIATE your package if get an opportunity to do so. IT WOULD ALLOW YOU do things like KEEPING MEDICAL when your spouse is Pregnant and LOADS OF OTHER THINGS. You you A**HOLES are calling him all sorts of names. GO TO SCHOOL AND LEARN WHO HECK IS THE IDIOTS ON THIS PAGE.
What happened to our Core Values! You have managers that ask their employees to do things for them that is unethical and this is the type of managers that FMC is breeding!

I agree. Odds may be slim, but don't you owe it to your family to try and get the best possible deal so you have a chance to recover if the worst happens? I would be interested in hearing details on this as well.
Sounds like a valid question to me. These others are just bitter because they probably got fired and didn't get a severance in the first place. If you get fired it means they don't want you, if you get laid off it means they would like to keep you but have no place for you. Things will get better, just put your nose to the grind stone and deal with it. All of you complaining about a stupid question should probably go find a job working for Bernie Sanders...

The stupid question was about negotiating SEVERANCE! Do you understand? Sounds like you are a real genius!
yes it might seem like a greedy question. however if you flip that question on the salary side. Ever since we lost 65% of our department, we have been forced to do 3-4 people's jobs. Everyone is irritated and angry around here since then. We haven't seen any raises for 2 years now, yet they expect us to put in extra hours to keep up with the work load. So yes, maybe there should be some negotiations, if they want any one left to work here.

At the risk of being associated with this comment I must say that this company seems to be getting rid of the tallented people and keeping the complete idiots. I must assume this moronic management must want the company of idiots. We can't deliver anything on time and what we do deliver is filled with defects. I don't know how we are going to attract customers with the moronic management we have. My resume is updated and on the street.
What kind of grounds would you even have to negotiate? It is smarted to just start looking for a job now
FMC lays off a guy with 38 yrs of service that is only 56 yrs old and spent many nights trying to get trees out the back door. REALLY?? He knows more about the product than John Gremp, Peter Kinnear and Robert Potter put together. And was walked out like a common criminal! What happened to our Core values? What's next? Your job?

He had a legitimate thoughtful question. Sounds like he/she is preparing a game plan if / when they are laid off. I'd be curious as well if anyone has had luck negotiating a better severance. I think it might have to occur after the fact - my understanding is they give you 30 days to sign their severance offer.
