Thread regarding Devon Energy Corp. layoffs

Thank you Project Execution!

I'd like to thank the Project Exection team for guiding us through these tough times. If it weren't for them we would be like Sand Ridge, on the verge of bankruptcy. You guys have a great team of talented individuals who really understand what the concept of 'business' means! Please don't listen to these other immature comments on this site! Most are probably coming from people who got laid off or others who are about to. Keep up the good work!

[W]e are probably uniquely positioned with the ability -- with the fact that all of our projects are short-cycle time projects. They're all well oriented projects. We don't have any long-term projects within the company. And so that gives us tremendous flexibility to decrease our capital, such as we've done just now when we're in a very low-commodity-price environment, and the ability to ramp up capital spending and see commensurate results on the production side should we get some encouragement.

Ok, I have to ask. When is it time that PE just stops supporting the business units. We have optimized their processes, created DPMM and the Operating model, showed them how to manage money and spend, showed them how to manage resources and schedules. Yet they still refuse to listen and end up doing their own thing which results in losing money and more layoffs. It's getting old trying to correct these people. I have a family to support and we need to get rid of these business units that don't know anything about making money.

Benefits realization - nobody cares on this blog. You need to tell this to Devon not here. Don't lower yourself to respond on this site it does no good and is a waste of time and effort.

I really want to say thanks to the person who wrote this. I get fed up and tired with all the negativity surrounding the group, especially when everyone expects us to do all their work for them. All we are trying to do is keep the ship afloat. Unfortunately, we had to layoff some people to make this happen, but we are moving the company in the right direction. We need to keep moving forward and make sure there are positive benefits (through benefits realization) in everything we do. Sometimes it difficult to carry the business units on our back, when all they do is criticize, but we are professionals and know what's best for the company.

Crying a river today. It is just so unfair for the 700 that got booted. I want to wake up from this nightmare. I want my office back on the 35th floor and work out friends. I miss lunch at Nebus and ghellato. The government steps in to save every other industries why won't it do something for oil and gas👿

This is a perfect example of one of the blind, asskissing, brown nosing clowns that kept their job by cluelessly buying into the Devon rhetoric. You might hold your "thanks" for another year and see if you still feel the same. Devon is in a tail spin and desperate to pull itself out. Trust me when I say that they will drop you without a second thought regardless of your blind devotion if they think it can save a buck. When the next earnings call comes, you will be viewed simply as a statistic, and will feel foolish for this comment. But who knows, maybe the the PE group will swoop in and save the day, and you can continue being the lap dog that you are!!

This is too funny. Posting congrats on this sight. This just shows how stupid Devon people are. This is a public sight. If you work for Devon you should not post this sort of comment Tell your team and your customer. There is no one that reads this site that cares. This should be kept inside of Devon. The pettiness on the side should be ignored by your team. You should be fired for posting things that should stay internal. If you are reading this you have too much time on your hands.
