Thread regarding Zenith Education Group layoffs

Anyone else seeing vastly reduced student #s in online classes?

Over the past couple of terms I've had a couple classes (and not a class every term, either), and in each class I've had about 5 or 6 students. Compare this to 6 mos. ago (when we were about 6 months into our new Zenith ownership), and I had 20-30 students in a class.

I know that folks on this board have been saying for some time that Everest is slowly dying off under Zenith, but for the first time I'm seeing irrefutable evidence of this in my own class sizes.

Are other EUO faculty seeing the same?

Correction: Everest on line has always been an illegal operation. Slowly we all get an idea how illegal the I tire operation was.

Everest Online has always been a joke.

The unethical thing is that they will never tell you that you are not going to get classes, they just don't give you any. AD's like C.O. are the worst of the bunch and I can't believe they still exist in Everest Online.

EUO will be teaching out starting the third quarter. That's was the reason for the huge RIF announced last month. EUO staff has endured 3 major reductions in the last year because of a huge decline in enrollment.

Fixed and variable costs: total student count and average class size are critical. If the average class size is too small, then it is difficult to operate in the black. If the number of students is too low, then the fixed costs become too burdensome, even if the class sizes are large. In other words, it is not sufficient to have large classes if there are not enough total students. It is also not sufficient to have many students all in tiny classes of 5 to 6 students each.
