Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Boeing layoff will slow down WA state economy.

Economy has started recovering. Boeing layoff will slow down WA state economy. Boeing laid off employee will definitely move out to other state. Housing industry will get hit again. I am not sure how laying off 8000 employee will make Boeing more competitive with Airbus.

Big company management makes so much until that will be cut Boeing will not able to compete. You definitely need loyal smart employee to build and compete with Airbus. Do your work right first time with only dedicated worker. Give them good benefit secure job so that they will build good product. If not you will be history after few decades.

Try laying off MANAGEMENT LEVELS. I do not work here but I care for Boeing. Managers are bogus does same work to show they are effective- not productive but does meeting-really wants to save Boeing-Please keep minimum manager and fire them if not effective.

Boeing executives does not care for the future of Boeing. They just care about themselves and how much money they could get in their pocket in the smallest amount of time. They get in and bounce out loaded and its a fact.

I've been with Boeing for less than a year and I'm happy for the most part but I see issues in how the company manages the employees. In my work area just about everybody has a different manager and the managers stop by once a year. I see some people who are productive and others who do little and are at work half the time. Nobody complains because they are afraid to bring any negative attention towards themselves. Since there are layoffs every year employees tend to keep a low profile. It's unfortunate it's this way because the wrong people are getting laid off. I've wanted to speak up myself but being fairly new in my position I think it's best to keep quite for now. If I'm still with the company in a couple years I will probably speak up about one individual. I don't think anything will happen though because management will probably sweep in under the carpet anyway.

I've been with the Boeing company for long time. I had the worst engineering supervisor of my career recently. She had absolutely no experience in design or manufacturing. She could not tell a good design from a bad design. She was purely a bean counter and schedule jockey and again completely clueless to design and manufacturing. Managers have turned into bean counters and schedule jockeys, not longer doing engineering that is way recent and new projects are so screwed up

Since most of the layoffs have been salary type employees and not the people building the products so far...they have and are doing this. People building their products are used to layoffs, it's go with the industry. You adapt to it, learn to travel and make your money where you can until your local aerospace facility is hiring. They do have a lot of managers, I do work for the company, but salary positions have been cut drastically over the last 4 years. And since they just hit 100 years of service, I'd say they're doing well beyond "a few decades". It's a good company to work for that pays competitively for the industry. The Washington home branch of employees makes more than most of the other branches world wide. The unions have spoiled them to think they are entitled to something. They aren't. You perform a job and get paid to do said job. They owe you nothing more than a pay check. Period. Boeing is in the business of selling airplanes, they will stay in that business and do what they need to get the job done. If it means cutting jobs today, or hiring tomorrow, that's what they will do.

They could lay off every other level of manager all the way to the top and it would run just fine , they adapt lean manufacturing for labor force from Toyota but refuse to model management structure like Toyota , I think there is something like 5 salary folks for every one labor ! It's a old model that can't succeed in the future.
