Thread regarding Devon Energy Corp. layoffs

Tough Times

Tough Times are ahead, but Devon is still a great place to work. I would rather stay here and hope to make it through than go anywhere else. At least I know that Devon won't leave me high and dry like other companies. They provide a severance package which is more than most.

Devon is an awesome company !!

My termination date is the 22nd of April. My fully vested happened 3 days ago. Got a call for my second interview tomorrow. Keep saving. Keep positive. And get the f¥€! Out of your safe place and get a job.

Every single benefit has a disclaimer. ITs required by law.

If you are stuck in OKC then working at Devon is better than any other place right now because of the pay and benefits. Once those change then any place is better than Devon

The ones let go the first round are the lucky ones. The next round the severance package will be sh-- if any. And most likely they will let go of small amounts so they don't fall under the WARN act. If you think that Devon gives to sh--s about you think again. all you are is a number and nothing else. A slave to Devon.

I feel the same way but afraid my asset may be sold and if it does I will be out! I know they have tested the waters to see how our competitors value our Eagleford assets. I don't believe we will sell unless oil takes another big drop when storage is full and no place for production to go. Our house will not sell so stuck where there are no opportunities! Funny in that a year and half ago we could have named our price and sold our house in a day!

Foolish person. Severance can be cut with a simple decision to eliminate.

Trust me life is so much better and stress free without Devon. I don't have a job as of yet as I am going to go back to school. But for the first time in 8 years i see my kids off to school. I don't worry at night if i will have a job tomorrow and I don't have a crook for a boss any more. Life does go on and you realize how little Devon cares about you when you get called to that office to be let go. And the people you once called friends have nothing to do with you any more because your not there to do their work for them now.
