Thread regarding McKesson Corp. layoffs

Pat Blake warns that more layoffs can happen soon in email today

That said, in March, we took some difficult steps across the Corporation, including MTS, to reduce our cost structure so we can further strengthen our competitive position and stay aligned with customer and market dynamics. With the breadth of our portfolio, we are uniquely positioned to help providers, payers and retail pharmacies address today’s challenges while focusing ahead on the transition to value-based healthcare. This opportunity also brings the responsibility to continually evaluate and adjust our businesses, even in a strong year. While not easy, it is necessary in order to create the future we all want for our customers and ourselves. Thank you for your leadership as we went through the process and for being an example of ILEAD and ICARE.

While leadership pushes down with ICARE and ILEAD, employees that actually keep this ship from sinking push up with F---U. What a joke.

Mckesson makes some really bad decisions. They spent 40 million on new warehouse management software to be rolled out to all the DC's, after installing it in three of them, the problems were severe enough to scrap the whole thing. They promote incompetent employees simply because that person might have a degree, usually not in the field of management of any kind. ICARE, yeah right, they just laid off a 30 year employee who gave her life to the company, not much caring there.

As a medical rep, McKesson is falling into the trap that most reps are falling into these days. i.e. hospitals, and clinicians are screening out reps, so that the "value based" outcomes have become a joke. As a rep, you are required to have credentials by vetting organizations (who are not "responsible for the accuracy of their reporting, in their agreement.") Purchasing and materials use this another excuse not to see reps. One of my customers emailed me and reminded me to register with their rep organization. Why should I spend $600 when this materials manager will not speak with me or make an appointment? Purchasing in only based on price and algorithms not outcomes . e/g. 11 Facilities in the northeast were cited by CMS for poor infection control, i.e. pressure sores, catheters infections, hospital acquired wounds, etc. from articles of 12/15/15. Their are products on the market that they are not aware of that could possibly have prevented some to the fines. 7 were fined millions of dollars. Not only did they have to pay the fines but had to pay for the wounds that they may have created. In another instance, a patient was issued a "cease and desist" order when she went public when her husband passed from a MRSA infection 7 years ago.

In the same area within the last 3 years 2 patients were lost to necrotizing fasciitis and another lost a leg to the same disease. And a public servant lost his hand. That facility had been inserviced on a product that may have saved his hand and career and they did not call for product. Yet a teaching facility in the south had a patient present with the same disease, they did an internet search and found a possible solution. FYI, within 36 hours the patient had turned around according to the press release using a new product (3 years new and FDA approved.) Having been a buyer many years ago for a large retail company, it was incumbent on me to see reps and keep current. Facility's buyers are not staying current.

Recently a federally funded in the Northeast discovered the value of a new product which the they thought was very expensive at $.40 a spray. Compare to a a 4x4 island dressing that costs $6 per dressing. A patient that they had been changing dressing on daily for over a year. With addition of the new product, they were down to changing the the dressing now only twice a week. To me, that is a 60% savings. I would think that that would be a "value based outcome."

To the last poster - you don't sound like you are from here! Why don't you take your bitterness back home with you.

Wonder who "ourselves" are.

ICARE hasn't been in their vocabulary for many years. It should be "It's all about the stock holders". Forget about the American jobs you are sending to India and the people that put so many years with them.
