Seems to me there are a lot of present Anadarko employees on this Web Site. Why would you be looking around a Layoff Web Site if you got to keep your job? You would be better off working, and trying to add some value to APC. Instead you come on this site and talk like the ones laid of got what they deserved, and you are above it all. Understand there were many who volunteered for the package and left on their own terms with a nice payout. There were also a lot of good people who were just caught up in the numbers game. I worked at Anadarko since 1989 and took the package. From day one there was always talk of being acquired and it never happened. Over the last few years the same thing has been said over and over, and it does not happen. If APC was not bought when the stock went down the lowest a few months ago then APC will not be bought. Stop wishing for something that is not going to happen and make the company stronger. Reading the post on this site you would think the cream of the crop was kept. If that is the case then get to work and get the stock price up in these tough times. It is up to you guys to make Anadarko the best place to work, and a great company. To get on this site and bad mouth APC and APC former employees does no one any good. If you look at this site once during your work day you are not doing your job. Be glad you kept your job, because there are very few E&P jobs out there right now. Work hard and get that stock price up!!

I am trying to fulfill my lifelong dream of golfing and fornicating my way all the way around the gulf coast and I don't need these senseless posts of yours distracting me as I try to climax. That is twice you have wasted time at work today to post a juvenile statement. You must be one of those degreed folks from the University of El Salvador, or something like that. Stop being so mad you did not get the package. The golf has been great these last couple of weeks, and that nice package made riding of in the sunset that much netter. If those are the only statements you can come up with then APC is in for some hard times ahead. Get back to work, and look in the mirror for the real definition of a loser!!
Two drowning swimmers can't save eachother. two oil cos bleeding cash only bleed slight less if they combine and eliminate redundancies but only after an expensive merger process. apc's low stock price is not enough to do an acquisition when most buyers are struggling to survive. why do you think apache sabotaged a deal with apc? it would not have helped keep them alive.
XOM and some Nocs have the resources to survive and buy struggling competitors but without the cooperation of apc management it is hard and costly and risky esp when you consider surprises like tronox. apc management will cooperate when the deal is good for them or when apc is so weak there is no other choice.
apc is mostly a bunch of upstream fields and some other real crap that no one wants. there are also some really good geologists. a competitor can buy the upstream and hire the laid off geologists without the crap and without the surprises.
if oil prices stay low apc can survive only by selling assets that others want. sooner or later they will have only the crap left.
watch what happens over the next 3 months. the cash is running out
