avago has a reputation of cost synergies and cutting back on R&D and can't really blame talented engineers leave on their own befor the ax falls, especially going to an different industry

Well, corporate finally gets a piece of its own medicine. Back in the mid 90's there was an Irvine division of a company called Standard Microsystems Corpoaration who had their key employees plucked by Broadcom, assuredly stealing their best minds. SMC had recently purchased the division from WD, similar to what Avago did with Broadcom. Payback is a !@#$

Do you mean the recent sue of Space-X?
Good engineers are more marketable and have a better mobility. They leave the company first when work environment becomes unpredictable and risky. This is what the corporate is mad about. The corporate wants to be the one who decides who to keep and who to layoff.
Law suits is not used to stop people leaving the company but asking for money while you can
Innovation will be hard to come by...
That's what they are mad about.
R&D team seems very big as of now...mainly only top management has been trimmed. So should expect some bottom cleaning here ....
....also technology moves will slow down, many IPs can be bought from other vendors also.
