Any news about layoffs today?

During All Hands Meeting at Gears, the HR guy said up to today, 350,000 people have been laid off globally. HR guy said if the market continues to be the way it is now, there will be 7,000 to 9,000 people left globally by the end of this year.
WIS IWOCS incompetence and blatant disregard for "creating customer success" will ultimately end up costing FMC $35 million in future contracts. The way you treat customers is spreading fast. This is real reason for some of the layoffs. How many jobs could of been spared?
I wouldn't be surprised if they move all operations to India which might be the last ditch effort to keep the company afloat outside a merger. And I concur with all of the comments about the place being run by monkeys. I came onboard from another industry and was immediately taken aback by how poorly things seemed to be run. Endless processes that didn't seem to get anything done. Repetitive work that could have easily been automated or streamlined. I feel sorry for the engineers who came straight out of school and put many years into this place. You might get a culture shock when you go elsewhere and find you lack some very basic engineering skills.
From the cuts hey made it looks like they preferred to keep the Indian or Pakistani employees...favoritism...
you got cut because you probably made more money than the rest in your department. they did the same thing here in MS, where they kept young kids who were here under 2/3 years because they made less...
I was laid off on Monday and there was no rhyme or reason behind it. Don't understand how my job was eliminated and not the person sitting next to me which wasn't as qualified as I was. I am not bitter but very disappointed in the way we were treated after being a loyal employee for so many years. I think that they are setting the company up to fail because the people that are left are young, inexperienced and don't care what happens. Very sad way to go out!!!
Interesting how a delivery manager of a small product line told their employees that they would be 'safe' in the upcoming round of layoffs.
Especially when they have a planner that is completely incompetent and a sales engineer that has brought no new work in the past 2 years.
Seriously? Skilled people being let go and you are concerned about training? But wait, training and recruiting will not be hit according to the imbeciles making the decisions!
Does anyone know if the training dept has been hit?
Six WCS engineers were laid off yesterday.
It is really strange pattern of how FMC is approaching this reduction in force. They did the exact same thing in Erie by cutting all those people who had experience in running Manufacturing and Product Line Support and held onto interns, inexperienced people, new hires, moved others into positions where the experience and qualifications are non-existent. The people left in Erie have stated that the operation is a total mess right now and is barely functioning. Orders that are due are not being shipped or shipped late. Customers can't get answers they need and are being completely neglected. Still have a full HR department with less than 1/2 the people that were present 12 months ago.
gears rd place is a mess..knew a bunch of good workers got let go but keep the garbage workers there working..whatever..good luck to who they have left
I concur about the buy out theory. There is no way they are trying to keep this a going concern. People with ridiculous titles are still here, but people who actually get work out the door and generate $ are being dismissed. Why are there any recruiters left at this point? Why are "Global Environment" people and "Global End User Managers" still hanging around? Doubt they're billable.
I was one of the people let go yesterday. No rhyme or reason as they continue to let good people go. No one is safe. The next round will be even deeper.
R&D engineers and techs at Gears rd. were hit hard. Downsize has big rumors of a buy out. All signs are there.
No more cuts in services until next quarter.
High bay refurb/sit I here let go about 5 at gen parj
Low Bay at gen Park was hit too..only heard about some ppl who were close to retirement. Tomorrow is another supposed day of cuts. Will update if more information is heard.
hang in there folks... they will cut, and they will cut deep..
Global was hit too this time n.fwy
WAS let go of 2 techs
I've heard ~180 product side
~20 services side
Around 200 total
Yes. If you get fired, you don't get a severance package and you will have difficulty pulling unemployment. If you are laid off, you get both.
What is the difference between being fired and laid off? Severance package?
WIS had a couple let go. One 5+ yr engineer and one ~3 yr engineer
Everyone is fair game at this point, but some are being fired and some laid off.
Gen park is having layoffs too...
No new work is being brought in.
I have heard some left at TCJ are getting cut
They are laying off at Beltway Lakes as well. Multiple departments.
Gears Rd so far
where have they cut purchasing?
Interns are cheaper, they're just looking at numbers
Procurement has been hit hard, plan is to minimize supplychain/procurement in half and to leave a handful of buyers yet they still keep the intern????
where did they start? what plant? division? salary, hourly ? come on people...
I think they are starting now...,heard a good guy got let go
this site works by people listing if there is anything they know. your question is already within the website.
do you have any information? are you trying to confirm a rumor? So a question like "I heard plant X is getting laid off today, can anyone confirm?" would be more appropriate.
