Take as much vacation as you can. If they lay you off, they will not pay you anything for your otherwise unused vacations because of the "Unlimited Vacation Policy" scam that they have implemented.
Have not got a chance to take vacation yet.

sure, stay focus on what you are doing right now. I've heard this again and again. Company will use every bit of you until the last minute.
Our management is asking us to stay focused and not let layoff worries distract us.

Should we slow down the projects as badly as possible to achieve more time for self control and learning new skills? It is so cruel of managers to push team now.
My advice: Instead of wondering what will happen, take control and look for another job. That layoffs are coming once the HGST/WD merger is approved should not have been a surprise.
any of those dates are probable, but it would be more reliable hearing it from the person that shared these dates that works back and forth between WD and HGST
