Thread regarding Williams Cos. layoffs

Any leadership cuts?

Have any supervisors, directors, managers, VPs, or SVPs, been cut yet? If so where at?

Great points about shadow engineering organizations. I have never seen so many engineering groups in one company be created and even some ripped apart in short order. It takes several years to build a great engineering organization, right now we have one for each operating area, plus technical services engineering, Pittsburgh engineering (several groups) Tulsa, OKC, and Houston engineering all compteing for a shrinking project load. There is no continuity, Again this isnt run like the Pittsburgh Steelers

LH and FP are why we are in this mess my friends. I like them both but they have fattened our departments over the years just because they didn't agree with OE group support. If they didn't agree they should have used their stoke to stop it. And AA let them create shadow organizations. If you could not see this coming you were crazy. So sad to see all go. But of we did not do something with the 4 layers of VPs then we missed an opportunity. This just makes us more top heavy.

HI

Dont know about LH, may have been a false rumor. I have seen a lot of VPs in the Northeast exit suddenly, LH may actually be the longest running VP in the Northeast, i think a grand total of about 3 years. At that level, a letter usually goes out to the whole department, commending the great job done and announcing the retirement date. On the other hand sometimes the VPs, quickly disappear and a phony excuse is made for their exit. Again this place isnt run like the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Was LH let go to? If so that is even more devastating. He was alluding to leaving/retiring after all this and moving to Africa to spend his years with the orphanage he helped crate. LH is an amazing guy that fought very hard for EVERYONE under him. Based on those that were kept vs. let go, I hardly think even he had much of a say in this. I think JS just opened another 1000 dollar bottle of wine after making a payment on his new vacation home following his 500,000 VP bonus, and just threw darts on the org chart hanging on the wall. Because the pickings were that haphazard.

I worked for CR for nearly 4 years. After being let go (and my counterpart that spends 95% of the day watching hockey replays and reading garbage on Reddit was kept), I was pissed. But after learning they got rid of him, and some other loyal hardworking people, I didn't even want to be there had I stayed. Screw that place. Never looking back. What a joke of what was once thought to have been a respected company.

Wait till ETC cleans house, what a joke. Lots of E&C Directors and VPs purged in the last five years especially the Northeast. MH,LP,FP,TW,MF,JH,AS,RO,CL,CR, etc,,,,,

It is amazing that anything gets accomplished with such a high turn over! This aint run like the Pittsburgh Steelers, three coaches in thirty years, SAD

CR and CL are initials of Directors in E&C in the PGH (Pittsburgh) E&C (Engineering & Construction) PE (Project Execution). CL was more of a retirement.

It was obvious there was not objective criteria when it came to the cuts. It appears it was truly a subjective decision on who the individuals would be. The only objective number was the total number of employees to cut in any one department.

The employee ranking was a joke in pittsburgh, typical for this company

"CR & CL in PGH E&C PE" I don't understand some of these acronyms, unfortunately.

I know of 1 director that elected to leave the company voluntarily in Pitt E&C and 3 supervisors demoted to single contributors. I don't know of any actually management that was actually cut. Looks like if you were management the worst you got was downgrade to single performer which I doubt is even a pay cut. Some of their roles are mercy roles with no clear job description.
