I am so happy to be cut, the joy is incredible it has only been one day, more time with family, with GOD, going for long walks, going to the gym, working on the house. What makes me anger is all the contributions I made to increasing the safety at Williams, did not get one cent of credit for it. There where numerous safety incidents in the area that I supported and after the improvements where made they went to zero. Makes me wonder whether Williams really takes safety as number one. I guess they have made their bed and are going to have to lie in it.

The big winners will be those that quickly land up in a job that is better than what they had at Williams.
The other big winners are the ones who wanted to retire and get the windfall servance package. The losers are the ones that want to retire and are still left after the cuts. They will be miserable and will make their coworkers miserable as well! LOL
The losers will be the ones who don't get a lot of servance and may end up taking a hit, and dont have the skills to find a better job and encounter an extended job. In the end if you play your cards right you should be a big winner if your cut. Big winners always end up with some failures before they win big. It always builds character.
Why would someone that got laid off, is getting their PTO check, severance check (with potential for an enhanced severance check), and who already as another job be singing a different tune?
Don't get too excited about the payout as it and PTO are considered supplemental income and will be taxed as the bonus checks are! So you won't be getting as much as you think!
Wait until your severance and unemployment benefits run out, you'll be singing a different tune.
-tsm I couldn't agree more. I was laid off and the severance package, plus my PTO will be really nice. Then add on top of that the ETE potential enhanced severance package and I will have received in total about 40% of full year's salary. Like you I saw the writing on the wall quite a while ago. I was in a position that cost Williams quite a bit of money on the front end to maintain, with any potential financial gains only being realized years if not decades down the road.
One of things Williams did right is the severance package, absolutely outstanding. If the ETC merger is completed the additional payment will be out of this world!
I could not agree more. While I was fairly happy with my job, I knew that it was only a matter a time. If not now, then ETE. And we would all get that enhanced package anyway. Looking forward to catching up on a backlog of house projects, projects up at the hunting camp, and spending more time with friends and family, which this job has left me isolated from, in a sense, from working long, unrecognized, unrewarded hours.
