How's everybody doing? For us folks that were cut last week, is everyone hanging in there? Starting to feel like there's light at the end of the tunnel?

You know it is strange. At first I felt betrayed. They kept almost all of management and fired a lot of hard workers. Why the hell do they really need all those managers and supervisors? The answer is they don't but it was easier to sacrifice workers. Now that I have been gone for a week and job offers are starting to roll in I am kind of happy. The place was getting depressing. If I was still there I would be working and wondering when the next round of cuts may occur. That is no way to live life and it is a sure way to cause health issues and problems in your personal life. As it stands I am enjoying time with the wife. It's like a long vacation and no stress about the oil industry is a giant perk.
Not good here. I was a petroleum geologist. No real transferable skills (I can't do the same job in another industry like I.T. H.R. etc.)
That was my fault for selecting geology as a major.
Also Devon moved my family here a few months ago. Ugh,
So yes, it still sucks..
To 1coo, well done
Doing great. Having a few pina coladas at the beach. Nice vacation. Now I realize I was feeling miserable, no direction, no new challenges and absolutely no leadership. I am glad someone pulled the trigger. We don't have a lot of bills. No debt. House and cars paid for. Spouse works and has been very supportive. Healthy mind, body and spirit. Daily exercice really helps. Life is good. I am competent and educated and my profession is not specific to O&G. Don't get me wrong Devon is a great company, but now I feel free. There is a nice world outside of Devon folks. If you feel depressed for your recent job loss, leave town for a few days for a reset. Cheers and good luck!
Hooray for you Cancun!!
I'm a porn star now lol
Great on the beach in Cancun Mexico. Laid off on Monday in paradise on Wednesday.
