My fellow Devoner and Devonites fear not for Big Brother is watching. The Angel of Death has come, but is not gone. Be reminded the reduction in force is to be completed by the end of March. This means that our fearless leaders are still working at finding more people to cut. There is no longer any such thing as work life balance at Devon. Every other Friday off will be gone soon and so will the Doc. There will still be more personnel cut between now and the end of March, but they will be stealthy about it.
Keep your head down and always smile when walking around. Fake being happy. Also remember everything and I mean everything is being tracked. Every key you type is being tracked, in every document, email and IM. Trust no one. Do not talk or email anyone that has been cut. Do not provide them a recommendation on Linked. I would recommend you unlink and unfriend them. Devon has services that are searching social media and they will find everything you post and read it.
Do not be late, do not leave early. Make sure you let your supervisor knows your schedule every day to CYA yourself. To keep your job you need to be the model employee. Come in early and stay late. I would go as far as sending a daily status so there is never any doubt you are working hard. To keep your job you need to document everything you do and show why you are important. I have three kids in college so I have to keep my job. I cannot let my family down. I will continue to be a team player in ways to save my job. I know it will a dog eat dog environment now and I am prepared. Are you?
