Question regarding severance and new employment.

If you find employment right after the WARN period, do you lose the remaining of you severance ? What if you find employment prior to the WARN period ?

Let me know what kind of position you are looking for? I have a few clients that are owners of various energy companies that said they are hiring. Shoot me a text and let me know what you are looking for (405)757-5427. Good luck!

HE told me that you can get a new job before than. You will just go from the warn act to straight severance. Only thing will loose is benefits. Still get the full amount of pay.

Our financial advisor went thru the entire lay off package. He said you can accept a job prior to April 18th but you can not begin working it until April 19th or you forfeit your severance. It's very specific. Just read your package.

Per email from HRConnect:

You are currently in a WARN period for the next 60 days- meaning you are still considered to be an active employee. During this period you will continue to be covered on the elected health plans that you were on. If you obtain employment during the 60 days, you will forfeit benefits, PTO accruals, etc. However, your severance is yours no matter what your employment status is. Your unpaid PTO will be paid at the time of your last paycheck as an active employee.

I would say everyone should call HR connect before they listen to anything on this board. It makes sense that you would get to keep your severance but lose your employee benefits if you found other employment however contrary to the post by 1lox your insurance ends at midnight the day you terminate not at the end of the month you terminate.

Three different people I know that are not friends with each other all said they were told they would lose their entire severance if they took a job prior to the end of the warn period when they got their envelopes. I do not believe any of them has gotten in contact with HR connect yet.

The previous poster is not correct. I called HR connect to verify. If you get another job you get the severance either way. But if you get a job BEFORE the WARN period ends, you lose the employment status for the remainder of the WARN period. Thus you stop accruing PTO and your health insurance end that month instead of end of April. Call 405-552-3555 if you want to ask for yourself.

The WARN act changes it from the layoffs that happened last year. As I understand it right now you are still a Devon employee and you are going to be officially laid off at the end of the 60 day period. If you find other employment prior to the end of the 60 days you are in effect quitting your job at Devon and will no longer be eligible for the layoff package. I was thankfully not laid off but even internally it is difficult to get any information because the remainders of HR are pretty slammed right now.

Don't have to tell them you are employed. Keep the warn and severance.
