Most of those same folks professing support for you, their missing coworker, won't even return your emails soon. They won't even be able to put together a list of those let go last week in a month or so. You and all the others are soon to be "gone and forgotten". Get ready to be treated like getting layed off is a contagious disease. Good luck in the future. Plan on making that good luck yourself.

Supervisors come in four "flavors"- technically skilled/effective leadership skills, technically skilled/poor leadership, poor technical/ effective leadership, and the worst- poor technical/ poor leadership.
Usually it is the ones with poor leadership skills ( don't listen, not trusted, poor communicators, no vision, don't actively lead and support their staff ) that frustrate others, and cause more damage than a bad frac job.
Sorry to hear you had a bad situation with your supervisor. The violation of trust is one of the worst offenses between two adults. Hang in there.
I know that feeling. My supervisor defiantly screwed me over. I could explain how but he would know who it was that is posting here and at the moment that would not be helpful in moving forward with my career. My wife and children's world is about to change in ways, once again I can not go into because it would reveal far to much about me. All I can say is our family has some serious challenges concerning our children that most people do not have to worry about. I don't have massive amounts of bills and the severance package will help for a time. However In the end, it is doubtful that we will survive this economy even with cutting back. I know that there will be other opertunities in my future but this is something that hurts. A lot of my pain is from feeling that I have failed my family, but most is from being stabbed in the back by someone that I trusted to help show my value. My supervisor may think that the team is unaware of what he has done and that is fine. I am sure this is common in some groups, here is a hint, they know they are not stupid. The remaining team members have reached out and confided in me that they believe my thoughts to be true. The team will work for him quietly, but they will never trust him again. That makes me sad for everyone. I am hopeful that the industry will turn around and Devon will be a great place to work again. I wish this primarily because the team I worked with at Devon were some of the best at what they do. They are good solid people and I love them all. To do that they will need their supervisor to support that mission. So I am indeed rooting for the very people that have destroyed my world. It's Complicated. This city needs Devon and all the other players to be successful. Do not root against the industry that can help this city thrive. Hold on to the core values that were preached but not always followed by management. They are good values that Devon Energy does not own and they are something we can all hope to achieve in our day today journey through life. I hope that Devon is successful so none of my friend have to go through any of the pain, fear, and uncertainty that my family is now experiencing. I wish you all the best.
You're in for a long wait.
